Former player and world champion Julio “Julio” Giacomelli has signed with FURIA as a coach after having left Ninjas in Pyjamas.
His signing comes after FURIA parted ways with Marlon “Twister” Mello, who is now a temporary consultant for ALPHA Team in the Campeonato Mexicano.
The move is the first foray into coaching for the former NiP man, who won the Six Invitational 2021 and was grand finalist at the Six Invitational 2020. During his time at NiP he was also grand finalist at the Sweden Major and, when under the Black Dragons banner, was grand finalist at the ESL Pro League Season 6 Finals.
FURIA will be hoping his fresh perspective and world championship-winning experience will help them crack the puzzle of making a deep run at an international event. The team has been incredibly consistent at qualifying for every international event since they returned after they pandemic, but has not yet taken the next step up.
