S-Tier
Lifeline
Lifeline
Abilities
- D.O.C Heal Drone (Tactical)
- Combat Glide (Passive)
- D.O.C. Halo (Ultimate)
Support Legend Linelife is currently the most famous Legend in Battle Royale. She has fantastic healing and revitalization abilities and is the perfect choice for those looking to play more of a support role.
Her tactical ability, the D.O.C. Heal Drone, is now mobile and connects to her comrades to heal them on the go. Lastly, her superior ability, D.O.C. Halo, allows her to use a large drone that casts a small 360-degree shield around itself. This shield can block all flying bullets and provides increased healing speed to players within it.
Newcastle
Newcastle
Abilities
- Mobile Shield (Tactical)
- Retrieve the Wounded (Passive)
- Castle Wall (Ultimate)
Newcastle’s passing ability was also improved with the debut of his 23rd season. His recovery shields now have 50% more health. Combined with the brand-new support class perks, this makes it easy to revive defeated teammates before enemies invade your personal space.
With Mobile Shield, Newcastle can deploy a drone that projects a shield. With the latest update, Newcastle’s Mobile Shield does no damage and expires after a 20-second timer expires. Newcastle’s team can take cover without worrying about enemy fire for 20 seconds. This is more than enough time to decide on future strategy.
Pathfinder
Pathfinder
Abilities
- Grappling Hook (Tactical)
- Insider Knowledge (Passive)
- Zipline Gun (Ultimate)
One of the funniest characters in Apex Legends has officially entered the ranking of the best in the game. A recent update has given this character even more mobility, allowing him to control the map wherever he is.
Pathfinder’s Grappling Hook is great for moving around the map and evading enemy fire. His Zipline ability is excellent, allowing him to help players by escaping from danger and deceiving enemies, as these ziplines can lead to disastrous locations.
While he is vulnerable against highly skilled enemies with precision aiming, most players will only face such enemies occasionally. In most scenarios, Pathfinder is currently the better choice.
Gibraltar
Gibraltar
Abilities
- Dome of Protection (Tactical)
- Gun Shield (Passive)
- Defensive Bombardment (Ultimate)
With multiple buffs to his Dome ability, Jalter excels in bubble fights, especially with the “baby bubble” perk allowing frequent Dome placement. His current effectiveness with shotguns even influences weapon choice in the meta, which is notable.
Gibraltar is very difficult to master, but practicing with him before ranked matches and properly learning how to use the Dome of Protection will help a lot.
A-Tier
Revenant
Revenant
Abilities
- Shadow Pounce (Tactical)
- Assassin’s Instinct (Passive)
- Forged Shadows (Ultimate)
There are often questions about Revenant and why it stands at such high tiers. The answer is simple – it’s all about its mobility. Assassin’s Instinct allows him to climb high and outmaneuver the enemy.
Shadow Pounce is a quick, long-range forward jump to get close to weak enemies or to turn around quickly. And Ultimate allows the player to engage in risky firefights. So we think that this Legend should not be underestimated.
For Revenant, we have a special article on Best Revenant Skins in Apex Legends.
Wraith
Wraith
Abilities
- Into the Void (Tactical)
- Voices from the Void (Passive)
- Dimensional Rift (Ultimate)
The Wraith has always been a popular choice. Fans have also always loved the ability to take more risks and engage in firefights with Into The Void.
Even if she isn’t the best character to attack, her teleportation abilities will appeal to many. Voices from the Void gives the entire team an advantage by warning them of approaching danger. Finally, Dimensional Rift allows her to evacuate everyone from danger, which is very useful.
Valkyrie
Valkyrie
Abilities
- Missile Swarm (Tactical)
- VTOL Jets (Passive)
- Skyward Dive (Ultimate)
Few characters in Apex Legends can soar through the sky and kill everything in sight, like Valkyrie in Apex Legends Season 23. Her aerial abilities and control over the game’s map ensure she will be a problem for the enemy.
Most players have already enjoyed using her VTOL Jets passive, which allows her to glide across the map for a limited time. However, the abilities have a significant drawback: they are very loud, and you can’t fire weapons while using the jetpack.
Still, with the ability to instantly rotate your entire squad and quickly grab high ground in any situation, Valkyrie would be a good choice.
Mad Maggie
Mad Maggie
Abilities
- Riot Drill (Tactical)
- Warlord’s Ire (Passive)
- Wrecking Ball (Ultimate)
While Maggie is still a compelling character, players should be careful with her attacks in Apex Legends Season 23. Since Maggie is a shotgun expert, the character must be at close range to do much damage. This makes her use risky despite having several interesting attacks.
Bangalore
Bangalore
Abilities
- Smoke Launcher (Tactical)
- Double Time (Passive)
- Rolling Thunder (Ultimate)
Rolling Thunder can be good on both offense and defense. Bangalore’s passive ability allows her to move very quickly when hit. Smoke Launcher is one of the most versatile abilities. Even with the nerfs this season, Bangalore is still a great choice.
Octane
Octane
Abilities
- Stim (Tactical)
- Swift Mend (Passive)
- Launch Pad (Ultimate)
Despite Octane being one of the fastest characters in the game, Season 23 of Apex Legends has yet to be favorable to him. Since this season is more tactics-oriented, it hinders Octane’s more aggressive play style. While Octane can be somewhat helpful, he could be a better recommendation for beginning players.
Octane’s Stim tactics allow him to run around the arena faster. Swift Mend regenerates the hero’s health over time, allowing him to withstand more damage. Launch Pad could be a better ultimate, giving players some air and a double jump, but only a little more.
B-Tier
Horizon
Horizon
Abilities
- Gravity Lift (Tactical)
- Spacewalk (Passive)
- Black Hole (Ultimate)
Gravity weapons have always given Horizon a unique play style that experienced players could utilize. Since then, buffs have made she even more powerful.
Gravity Lift was already one of the best tactical abilities in the game, allowing her to change gravity for other characters. Spacewalk is still an ability that reduces fall damage. And Ultimate is a threat to any team.
Ash
Ash
Abilities
- Arc Snare (Tactical)
- Marked For Death (Passive)
- Phase Breach (Ultimate)
Ash remains top thanks to her Arc Snare and versatile teleportation abilities. She’s a strong Legend, though only partially on par with top-tier Legends.
Fuse
Fuse
Abilities
- Knuckle Cluster (Tactical)
- Grenadier (Passive)
- The Motherlode (Ultimate)
He may need a reliable healer at all times, but that’s what teamwork is all about in Apex. Knuckle Cluster is a fun tactical ability that shoots a sticky bomb that can be mounted on walls or explode on enemies.
Grenadier allows you to keep two grenades in your inventory and throw these explosives farther than usual. Overall, this Legend is good for damage, plus he’s not too tricky to master.
Caustic
Caustic
Abilities
- Nox Gas Trap (Tactical)
- Nox Vision (Passive)
- Nox Gas Grenade (Ultimate)
Since Apex Legends Season 23 is about shooting and support, tactical characters like Caustic can be challenging to play. Veterans can benefit significantly from Caustic, but newcomers should stick to tactics when using him.
Bloodhound
Bloodhound
Abilities
- Eye of the Allfather (Tactical)
- Tracker (Passive)
- Beast of the Hunt (Ultimate)
This Legend is still a threat when used properly by strategic players, but Bloodhound is no longer as significant a threat as he used to be. At least players can still get a lot of use out of Eye of the Allfather, which allows him to see all enemies.
Wattson
Wattson
Abilities
- Perimeter Security (Tactical)
- Spark of Genius (Passive)
- Interception Pylon (Ultimate)
Despite having excellent tactical attacks, Wattson can be easily killed if you’re not careful. Players using Wattson in Apex Legends Season 23 must coordinate well with their team to be effective.
Conduit
Conduit
Abilities
- Radiant Transfer (Tactical)
- Savior’s Speed (Passive)
- Energy Barricade (Ultimate)
Conduit has a well-chosen kit that allows you to reload fights and support your teammates. She offers good options for cutting off enemy rotations and blocking pooches. Her mobility and elusiveness buffs help her stay relevant.
C-Tier
Rampart
Level C Legends have some pretty decent equipment, however. In Apex Legends Season 23, their impact on the battlefield is minimal. Characters like Crypto, Alter, and Catalyst, who once boasted their abilities and dominance, are gradually losing their advantage due to the increasing number of movement options available on each map.
Even though Rampart specializes in defending territories, she can easily be destroyed in Apex Legends Season 23. The loba is too vulnerable in open combat.
Crypto is valuable but can be a problematic Legend in the long game. Since Crypto is all about gathering information and destroying defenses, this can make the character more challenging than the others.
The Seer was once a staple of the ranked game, but his viability has greatly diminished. His passive and tactical abilities lack the precision and impact needed in the current meta.
Catalyst has excellent potential on specific maps like Storm Point, offering solid defensive capabilities. However, it requires a particular style of play that many players need help optimizing quickly.
D-Tier
Ballistic
When comparing the Apex Legends Season 23 update to a card game, Ballistic and Mirage got the worst possible cards. While the Legends have been doing well in open matches, they are no longer welcome in ranked matches.
Despite some incredible abilities, Mirage has been weakened beyond recognition and is no longer as useful. Hardcore players should be the only ones using these in Apex Legends Season 23.
Player Opinions About Apex Legends Season 23 Balance Update
Many players were unhappy with how the balance of Legends changed in practice in the game.
“This patch is just weird. It’s nice to give all these cool buffs to Supports to make them more viable again, but why did they remove the only counters to them. Damage aside, Crypto EMP should disable all shields, full stop. Why did they remove this right as they give supports crazy shield uptime with Gibby bubble, Newcastle shield/wall, and Lifeline ult? The balance just doesn’t make sense. They should’ve left at least some counterplay.”
Although the Support class characters needed a boost, players feel the developers should have included some countermeasures to prevent overloading the Support roster in Apex Legends Season 23.
Players are upset that the developers have touted Crypto and Mad Maggie’s Ultimate abilities. These two abilities were direct opponents to most Support Class Legends and would naturally offer counterplay.
Other community members feel the developers no longer care about the game’s meta or competitive state.
In practice, looking at the statistics of Apex Legends online, we will see that the number of players began to fall again after the last update, although it increased to 225 thousand at the time. However, over 126 thousand players are still playing Apex now, a rare low number of players in the last few years.
