The Elimination Stage went pretty easy for them, and they made it to the Playoff Stage after only losing one match. In the Playoff Stage, their quarter-final match was against Liquid, and even though they were looking prepared, Spirit showed why they’re one of the best European teams and won with a confident score of 2-0. Their semi-final match was against MOUZ, and it was closer. MOUZ demolished Spirit on the first map, but then Spirit did the same on the next two maps and ended up winning with a score of 2-1.

Spirit has been in great shape for some time already, and they’ve been a consistent top team. Their star player ‘donk’ is also in good shape and seems to be ready to prove to everyone that he is the best player in the world. ‘sh1ro’ as the main sniper of this team, had an insane amount of 1.40 rating to his name in their semi-final game against MOUZ and he is one of the key players to have to win against a team like FaZe. ‘magixx’ who didn’t have his best year ended that same match with a rating of 1.24 just behind his teammate ‘sh1ro’ which is also a good sign of Team Spirit players being prepared for this tournament.

FaZe Path to the Grand Final

Unlike Spirit, FaZe didn’t have it that easy since the Elimination Stage; they had a 2-2 score and had to play an elimination match against FURIA. FURIA was able only to take one map of FaZe, and FaZe won with a 2-1 score, deserving themselves a spot at the Playoff Stage. Playoff Stage brackets for FaZe were looking even harder than what Spirit had. FaZe’s quarter-final match was against Vitality, who were considered one of the favorites to win the whole tournament, but FaZe surprised many and won with a 2-1 score. The next team in the semi-final they had to play against was G2, the same as Vitality. They also were one of the favorites to win the whole thing and were looking better on paper. Once again, FaZe showed everyone that they’re here to prove themselves to end this year in a good way. FaZe won against G2 with a score of 2-0.

FaZe didn’t look that great in the second of this year, but step by step, they were trying their best to prove that they were that top team that everyone knew. Here at Shanghai Major, they were on the edge of being eliminated but made it to the Playoff Stage. In the Playoff Stage, even though they were the underdogs to win their matches, they managed to win both quarter-final and semi-final matches against the best teams in the world, and now they’re here at the Grand Final. The key player for their success in the Playoff Stage seems to be ‘ropz’, who hasn’t been that consistent lately. Still, here, he had a rating of 1.49 against Vitality and a rating of 1.45 against G2. In both matches in a row, he led his team and demolished his opponents, showing that he is capable of consistently doing it and is in great shape.

It’s the Grand Final between two of the best teams in the world, and both teams have enough experience of big stages to make it even harder to predict a winner here. Some advantages for Spirit would be that they’ve been more consistent lately, and FaZe was the one behind trying their best to prove that they still belong to the top level. Consistency might be key in this match, so we would give Spirit a slight advantage. We expect Spirit to win this match.
