Even though it is still January, Valve decided to surprise us with information about The International 2025. After the first TI, which took place 14 years ago in the heart of Europe, Dota 2’s biggest tournament will be back in Germany. Fans can watch the best teams in action between September 1 and 14, 2025.
TI 2025 in Germany
Valve finally decided to unveil Hamburg as the host city for TI 2025. The decision was surprising because Germany will host the biggest event in Dota 2 after it hosted The International 2011, which took place in Cologne.
People were surprised that Valve decided to unveil TI’s host city so early. If we take a step back and see what happened before, we can see that the host city was revealed a few weeks prior to the competition. Fortunately, this is not the case for 2025, so people can buy The International tickets.
The International 2011 in Cologne
Going back to the first The International, Dota 2’s big tournament took place 14 years ago. Back then, the event was held in Cologne, and it included 16 teams, all of which were directly invited. What was very interesting was that no one knew the format or the other rules, but we knew there was a $1M prize pool.
It goes without saying, but this was one of the biggest Esports events at the time. It was also Dota 2’s big reveal on the international stage, so it’s no surprise that the tournament was very, very interesting. In the end, Natus Vincere was above the rest and ripped through the competition.
Final Thoughts
There is still a lot of time until The International 2025 in Hamburg, so we at Blix.gg will keep an eye on everything new. Keep in mind that there are many other tournaments to watch until then, so we can’t wait to see what’s going to happen.
