The protagonist is Henry, the son of a blacksmith who avenges his family’s death. In the sequel, we will see a more mature and experienced hero. The young man pursues not only personal goals but also participates in critical historical battles.
Why is the game expected?
Kingdom Come: Deliverance is the only modern RPG franchise set in a realistic medieval setting. There is no magic or dragons, but the lives of ordinary people in the 15th century are well revealed. The series plunges into a harsh world where the hero is just another pawn in the cycle of large-scale events.
The atmosphere is what the first part of the game can boast of. Henry couldn’t even read – everything had to be learned from scratch. The sequel should surpass the original in all aspects and deepen the mechanics of the first part. The open world will be twice as big as the first part, and the characters will react more realistically to the player’s actions. Gameplay will also become more diverse: early pistols and crossbows will appear.

We are transported to feudal Japan in the 16th century, at the end of the Sengoku period. Naoe, an assassin girl, meets Yasuke, a dark-skinned samurai. The heroes do not trust each other too much but are forced to work together to preserve the country’s unity.
Why is the game expected?
The developers promise an elaborate system of weather and seasons, the ability to build a personal base, and updated synchronization points: they no longer open interesting places on the map but are just observation points. The game was central to several scandals, and the release had to be postponed.
Shadows will again have two playable characters. The authors use the proven Odyssey formula: a tree of progression, many side quests, and a non-linear plot. It is one of the most anticipated games of 2025.
DOOM: The Dark Ages

Visually, The Dark Ages is reminiscent of the Quake series from the same ID Software and Painkiller from People Can Fly. It will show the backstory of the Doom Slayer, the protagonist of Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal.
The action is set in a world reminiscent of medieval Europe. Unknown types of enemies will appear, and new weapons, such as a tempting-looking shield saw, will be used to brutally exterminate them.
Why is the game expected?
New weapons will appear in The Dark Ages: a shield with a saw and a machine gun that shoots skulls. And Doom Slayer can fly on a dragon and control a giant robot. That’s enough to count the days until release eagerly.

In the trailer, however, Lucia meets us in a prison robe. The partner’s name is probably Jason; even less is known about him. In Grand Theft Auto VI, you will travel to the state of Leonidas, towards the neon lights of Vice City.
Why is the game expected?
This is the real new GTA – not an add-on to GTA Online or another re-release of the fifth installment. It’s a real new GTA! What other questions can there be about why it is waiting for it? No more arguments are needed.
Rockstar Games returns to its flagship series and promises to set a new standard of quality in the industry, of the apparent innovations that are noticeable from the first trailer – the appearance of a social network reminiscent of “Tiktok”, greater crowd density, and new transportation like jet skis. But for sure, the game will surprise you with something else. So you better take a vacation at the time of release – the game will thrill you.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

The madness of Metroid Prime returns in the year 2025. The alien monsters should stand back, and as usual, the endless shooting will be joined by platformer elements with a ballooning spacesuit. Bounty hunter Samus Aran fights space pirates once again.
Why is the game expected?
Almost 18 years have passed since the release of the third part of Metroid Prime (since 2007), and fans have been waiting for Retro Studios to continue the series.
The developers have seamlessly translated the franchise into 3D, combining shooter and Metroidvania mechanics without losing the series’ spirit. It’s still an atypically dark adventure for Nintendo games, with room for creepy DNA experiments and the mysteries of long-vanished civilizations.
There is no word yet on when or where the events of Beyond will occur. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was announced at the Nintendo Direct 2024 presentation. The developers also showed gameplay footage in the video. The video features intense first-person shootouts, protagonist Samus Aran’s abilities, and the environmental scanner’s operation.

Ghost of Tsushima sequel will tell a new story about an assassin girl named Atsu. In 1603, more than 300 years have passed since the final Ghost of Tsushima. The heroine arrives on the island of Hokkaido to seek revenge.
Why is the game expected?
Ghost of Tsushima is not only one of the most beautiful titles of the last console generation. It is also a great action game that allows you to feel yourself in the skin of a skillful assassin. Battles always look graceful – you can feel every swing of the sword, and enemies scream and squirm from wounds as if they were real.
The Ghost of Yōtei promises to surpass the original in everything. Developers of action in the samurai style of feudal Japan promise improved graphics and detailed drawings, new weapons, and a companion wolf for the protagonist, Atsu. The protagonist can use single-shot rifles, pistols, and paired swords.
Ghost of Yōtei’s open world will feature broad green meadows and regions covered in thick snow, with graphics showing all weather changes and even wind ripples.

The first Death Stranding was a game like no other. It was a post-apocalyptic cargo delivery simulator where you help other players online. The plot was also surprising: the true essence of Death Stranding seems to be known only by the author of the game himself – game designer Hideo Kojima.
The sequel will be more large-scale: the hero will have a flying ship and travel through different regions – from the desert to ice-covered lands. Also, this time, Elle Fanning (“Neon Demon”), Shiori Kutsuna (“Deadpool and Wolverine”), the creator of “Mad Max” George Miller, and director Fatih Akin (“Das Rheingold”) joined the star cast.

Why is the game expected?
Rise of Hydra is an ambitious new game in the Marvel universe. Judging by the trailer, it will be more down-to-earth than Spider-Man from Insomniac and Guardians of the Galaxy from Eidos Montreal. The action also seems promising because of the authors’ names: the screenwriter and game designer is Amy Hennig, creative director of the first and third Uncharted.

In Wilds, players take the role of a custom Hunter character who travels to the “Forbidden Lands“, an unpopulated landmass filled with monsters, to locate a missing expedition party.
Why is the game expected?
The company has been polishing Monster Hunter for years, and the next series should send shivers down the spine of anyone who has somehow dreamed of being on another planet with a blaster in their hands.
Wilds develops the ideas of the World in terms of an open world. Spacious locations and several biomes are waiting for us. Wilds inherit Rise regarding movement through the levels, but there will be dinosaur-like secrets instead of sled dogs and malamutes.
There are some timid people, but they are still not without innovations. The main feature of Wilds is the living world. Monsters will behave differently depending on whether they are in a pack. The weather change system will also change the behavior of the prey and peaceful NPCs.
Judging by the trailer, Wilds will not offer anything radically new. But it is enough to make fans spend hundreds of hours in the game.

The game’s events take place in the fantasy world of Albion. The protagonist joins the community of heroes to confront a particular villain.
Why is the game expected?
Fable has no analogues. It is a real simulator of a fairy-tale hero with vast possibilities. Your character can have a family and children, go into business, lead the life of a rentier, and much more.
The last full-fledged Fable was released in 2010, and nothing like it has been released since then. In 2020, a new installment was announced, and it is being created by Playground Games, known for the Forza Horizon racing series.
We don’t know what kind of RPG developers with no experience in the genre will be. But the trailers inspire hope that we are waiting for the same colorful adventure as before.

Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 players have been waiting for nine years – longer than any other part of the famous series. But soon, the wait will be over. The continuation of the renowned city-building simulator revives what you loved in the past parts. As the empire’s ruler, they expanded possessions, improved technology, and created a unique culture and heritage.
Why is the game expected?
The Civilization series is one of the most influential in the industry. Every next installment is an event, although from the outside, it may seem that there are not many differences between them. In the sixth part of the series, the player could change as many as nine historical periods during the game. There are only three: Antiquity, Age of Discovery, and Modernity.
Each era in Civilization 7 includes an exclusive set of technologies, policies, and units, so you won’t be able to learn tanks while everyone else is still running around with spears.
The company needs a fresh start after the commercial failure of Marvel’s Midnight Suns and the departure of studio head Steve Martin and game director Jake Solomon from Firaxis Games. A return to the iconic series could be why the game is a big bet.

Avowed is a “chamber” answer to Skyrim from the creators of Fallout: New Vegas, Pillars of Eternity, The Outer Worlds, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2. A messenger arrives on an island threatened by a deadly disease. The hero must discover what is happening in the region and save people.
Why is the game expected?
Obsidian Studios has been experimenting in recent years. In 2020, it released the cartoon Grounded, and in 2022, it released the detective adventure Pentiment, which features characters and environments drawn in the style of medieval manuscripts. Avowed will be Obsidian’s first major role-playing game since the action thriller The Outer Worlds.
Avowed is full of lore, perhaps even too much. However, there is a handy system that will explain all the terms to newcomers easily. We are waiting for a compact open world, first-person combat, black humor, and thoughtful dialogues that will reveal the characters and the game’s universe.
Separately, the project’s game director, Carrie Patel, said that the developers had prepared a double-digit number of slides with endings. Their combinations will be even more.
Other Games
One of the anticipated new releases is Mafia: The Old Country. The game will show the birth of the Sicilian Mafia in the 1900s and its development into an organized crime network. Everyone is waiting for it because it is a new Mafia. Over the past eight years, the series has only gained a remake of the first installment and re-releases of the second and third games.
We are also waiting for Gears of War: E-Day. In the prequel (the events develop 14 years before the final saga), we are waiting for new enemies, a lot of “guns,” and the traditional brand of adrenaline pumping.
The continuation of the unusual series of shooters from Gearbox will be Borderlands 4. Preliminarily, the place of action for the continuation of the series will be new worlds, which is not usual for fans of Pandora.
In the first half 2025, we will see Vampire: The Masquerade—Bloodlines 2. The sequel to the cult RPG has changed genre and location.
