PGL has revealed the sixteen teams that have received invitations to PGL Cluj-Napoca based on Valve’s Global Standings. The group stage of the $1,250,000 tournament will occur at the PGL Studio in Bucharest, beginning on February 14, before transitioning to the BT Arena for the playoffs from February 21-23.
The competition will showcase two teams ranked in the top 5 of Valve’s global standings, TheMongolZ and FaZe, in addition to MOUZ, Eternal Fire, and Falcons from the top 10.
Fans in Brazil will see representation from three teams: FURIA, paiN, and MIBR, whereas North American supporters can cheer for Complexity and Wildcard. The lineup also includes teams such as Astralis, Virtus.pro, 3DMAX, BIG, SAW, and Australia’s leading squad, FlyQuest.
A number of these teams have commenced their season at BLAST Bounty Season 1, with Eternal Fire being particularly thrilling as they advanced to the best-of-five Grand Final, although they were unable to match the performance of Danil ‘donk’ Kryshkovets and Spirit.
PGL Announcement
We won’t see top-tier teams like Spirit, Natus Vincere, Vitality, and G2 at this tournament with a huge prize pool, but it makes it better for both sides: us, people who will watch and cheer for our favorite teams, and for participating teams as well. It gives other teams more chances to win and get their prize and confidence to do better in the future.
