Vitality didn’t lose a single game on their way, losing only one map playing against teams like 3DMAX, FaZe, and Virtus.pro. In the semi-final match, their opponent was a hot and young team, TheMongolZ. It was a battle of experience against youngsters, and Vitality won with a score of 2-0 and deserved a spot in the Grand Final.

Usually, we want to put ‘ZywOo’ and ‘flameZ’ as the stars and players to rely on as fraggers, but in a game against TheMongolZ, ‘apEX’ was feeling like in the good old days and also fragging like crazy. ‘ropz’s ability to clutch is outstanding, and he might be a key player to win against the best team in the world.

They had a few problems on their way. First, they lost a match in a Group Stage against Natus Vincere, losing their chance to get it straight to the semi-final, and then they dropped a map against GamerLegion, and some people thought it might be because they’re tired of playing on that level for a long time. But after dealing with Virtus.pro in the quarter-final match and winning with a score of 2-0, they had the rematch against Natus Vincere in their semi-final, and this time they won with a score of 2-0, showing everyone that they were here to defend their title of IEM Katowice champions.

Star player ‘donk’ was and still is in incredible form and gave an outstanding performance here at his second IEM Katowice, protecting not only the team title but also going for his second Katowice MVP in a row. In the first match against Natus Vincere, ‘magixx’ and ‘chopper’ weren’t looking great. Still, in their rematch, at the semi-final, two of these players played the key role in winning that match. ‘zont1x’ and ‘sh1ro’ were the consistent players that a team could rely on. They still are the same. ‘sh1ro’ did a great job at clutching in a match against Natus Vincere, and ‘zont1x’ was just dominating Natus Vincere on the first map together with ‘donk’.

The Grand Final is always hard to predict when it’s between the two best teams. Still, considering that Spirit was more consistent for a longer period of time as a top team and they’re extra motivated here to protect their title of IEM Katowice champions, we expect Spirit to win this match.

Can Vitality take that title of Spirit, or will it be Spirit to become IEM Katowice Champions two years in a row, showing their complete domination of top teams?
