Death Stranding 2: On the Beach Trailer
The trailer is a 10-minute cinematic spectacle filled with atmospheric music, mesmerizing landscapes, key character appearances, and intriguing hints at plot developments.
Among other things, the video showed off several characters new to the franchise, including the Doctor, played by Debra Wilson, and a smuggler named Neil, who looks like Cliff Unger and Solid Snake at the same time. In total, the creators of DS2 looked at 14 key characters:
- Sam – Norman Reedus;
- Frajayle – Léa Seydoux;
- Tarman – George Miller (voiced by Marty Rohn);
- Higgs – Troy Baker;
- Tomorrow – Elle Fanning;
- Dollman – Fatih Akin (voice – Jonathan Rumi);
- Rainey – Shiori Kutsuna;
- Hartman – Nicholas Winding Refn (voice – Darren Jacobs);
- President – Alastair Duncan;
- Lucy – Alice Jung;
- Neil – Luca Marinelli;
- The Doctor – Debra Wilson;
- Red Samurai – actor unknown;
- Charlie – actor unknown.
The character Neil, played by Italian actor Luca Marinelli, wears a bandana like Snake before leading a team of creepy-looking soldiers.
Perhaps Marinelli’s role in Death Stranding 2 shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. In an Instagram post in 2020, Kojima praised the actor, saying that if he wore a bandana, he’d be “the spitting image” of Solid Snake.
Full trailer presentation with developer comments
The sequel will take place 11 months after the events of the original. According to the plot, Sam Porter Bridges must visit several continents with the ship “Magellan” crew to save humanity from extinction. Despite the postponement, it still poses a serious threat.
At the same time, the protagonist is trying to find out what happened to Lou – his adopted daughter, who was Bridge Babies in the first installment.
One of the key taglines of Death Stranding 2 will be the phrase, “We should never have connected.” According to Kojima, during the journey, the protagonist and his companions will question the connections they have made.
The game will feature plenty of music from Woodkid, a three-time Grammy nominee. The artist can also be heard in the “director’s cut” of the original and the animated series “Arcane”.
Conclusion
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will be released exclusively for PlayStation 5 this summer. The game will make its way to PC later on.
