Dota 2 Patch 7.39 Hard Support Tier List
When it comes to support, people usually have access to a lot more heroes than others. Depending on the lineup, you may need heroes with more disables or supports that excel at doing burst damage. In some cases, the team can also need defensive support that can survive the initial burst.
Judging from our tests and after reading the latest patch notes, here is our 7.39 hard support hero tier list:
- S+: Shadow Shaman, Witch Doctor, Oracle, Disruptor
- S: Ancient Apparition, Warlock, Lion, Ogre Magi
- A: Vengeful; Spirit, Elder Titan
- B: Winter Wyvern, Silencer
- C: Tinker
- F: Crystal Maiden
Shadow Shaman

Surprisingly, Shadow Shaman did not receive any nerfs after the 7.39 Dota 2 patch. Many people expected to see the hero get some nerfs, Valve decided to offer small changes. The most recent update offers the Massive Serpent Ward facet a 12x damage multiplier instead of 10x. Also, once summoned, the ward will now prioritise the closest hero when attacking.
After using Shadow Shaman in several games, we can safely say he continues to be among the best. Besides his early-game burst, SS has some of the best CC in the game. Moreover, the hero is very efficient at pushing and works great against elusive heroes.
If we check the stats, we can see that Shadow Shaman’s win rate is 53.20%, making it one of the highest in the industry. His pick rate is even more impressive because it is 59.14%. This makes him one of the most loved and popular heroes in the game.
Witch Doctor
The second of the best hard supports in the Dota 2 patch 7.39 is Witch Doctor, and it is a name that won’t surprise most of you. WD has been a part of the meta for several patches. Judging by the most recent changes, he will continue to have a key role in PUBs and Pro matches.
Witch Doctor’s strength comes from the fact that he has one of the highest damage outputs of any hero in the game. To be fair, we expected Maledict nerfs, but instead, Valve gave him a new facet called Malpracticse. It makes the ability even more annoying because people can take damage even if the primary target dies.
Overall, Witch Doctor offers excellent offensive capabilities during the laning stage and even later on. He can be used alongside many aggressive supports to rip through the enemy’s offlane. These are some of the reasons why the hero has a 52.43% win rate and close to 65.80% pick rate.
Oracle
Let’s face it, Oracle is most likely not the first support that comes to mind when considering PUB games. Although the hero is not always the right pick in a given situation, there are instances where he can do wonders.
The reason Oracle became stronger after the Dota 2 7.39 patch is its buffs. Aside from getting more range, Oracle’s Prognosticate now allows the hero to “fortell” which rune will spawn. This probably seems like a big gimmick, but if you have good communication within your team (especially the midder), you can make a huge difference early on.
Other than that, Oracle’s Fate’s Edict now has a longer cast range between levels 1-3, which is another small buff that allows the hero to be more efficient. We have had many situations where this small thing made a huge difference, so it’s definitely a solid buff in the laning stage.
In terms of stats, Oracle’s current win rate sits at 53.43%, whereas his pick rate is 21.57%. An interesting fact is that we can see Oracle even in pro matches. He was not the most common option in the previous meta.
Disruptor

The latest addition to the top hard support heroes of Dota 2 Patch 7.39 is Disruptor. Many of you are probably not surprised because the hero got several big changes, including a brand new Facet called Transferrence.
Without going into a detailed analysis of everything new, overall, Disruptor is much stronger than before. The hero’s laning stage is more or less the same, but his mid and late game presence is significantly better. He is an excellent counter to many of the top core picks right now, such as Invoker.
If we take a good look at the stats, we will see that his win rate is 51.97% and his pick rate is 27.20%.
Honorable Mentions
Alongside the S+ tier hard support heroes mentioned above, there are a few other names that are worth checking out. Lion, for example, is one of the “sleeper picks” that we expect to see more of in the next couple of months. The hero received a buff to Finger of Death (less cooldown without an Aghs Scepter), making him more efficient than before.
Ogre Magi is another support that we may see more of in the next couple of months. He got a few buffs that make him stronger early on, which compensates for the fact that he is among the few melee supports.
Conclusion
We are still early in the 7.39 Dota 2 meta, and we expect to see changes in the next couple of weeks. Valve will most likely release several balance patches soon, so we will keep an eye on them to see if they will affect some of the S+ tier hard supports right now.
