The Mid-Season Invitational (also called MSI) is the second cross-regional event of the annual LoL Esports schedule. It is one of the key tournaments of the year because it allows some of the best teams in the world to come together. There’s much to discuss here, so let’s dive into our LoL MSI review.

LoL MSI Overview – Schedule & Format

Since MSI is one of the key LoL tournaments, it’s no surprise that Riot Games is behind it. This year’s tournament will take place in Vancouver, Canada, and players wishing to watch the matches must attend the Pacific Coliseum.

Like all other big LoL events, this one has many sponsors. These include brands like HyperX, Coinbase, OPPO, OMEN, and more.

The 2025 League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational offers more than just another clash between top-tier LoL teams. The competition will feature two stages:

    • Play-In Stage
    • Bracket Stage

The Play-in Stage will last three days (June 27-29), whereas the Bracket Stage will begin on July 1 and end on July 12. The official lol esports page has more information about the exact hours when the matches will take place.

In terms of the format, the Bracket Stage teams will play against each other based on draw tiers. An interesting fact is that teams from the same region will be placed on opposite sides of the bracket as follows:

    • Tier 1 – LCK1 & LEC1
    • Tier 2 – LPL1 & LCP1
    • Tier 3 – LCK2 & LTA1
    • Tier 4 – Play-Ins Teams

These constraints automatically determine several matchups, significantly narrowing the range of possible draw outcomes. Of the six potential combinations of teams advancing from Play-Ins, four result in finalized brackets without requiring a draw. The remaining two will need only one placement decision to complete the bracket.

Like some other big LoL events, we can access MSI Drops. This year’s competition will offer 5 new emotes themed around the Spirit Blossom. Alongside that, LoL fans will also have access to 2025 Esports Capsules that will drop when there is a Baron/Atakhan/Dragon steal, Pentakill, or Silver Scapes moment.

An interesting fact is that Coinbase will also join the action and offer special Hextech Chests with keys. These chests will also let people compete in Sweepstakes to win tickets to Worlds 2025.

As for the emotes, here is what you can expect:

    • I Didn’t Start The Fire (Opening Day)
    • Casual Flex (Start of the Bracket Stage)
    • Always Hip (Upper Bracket Finals)
    • ONWARD! (Final Day of the Bracket Stage)
    • POWER PLAY! (Finals Day)
    • All Wrapped Up (Finals Day)
    • FED. (Finals Day)

    Twitch Awards & Broadcasting

Another thing that LoL fans will have access to is the different Twitch subscription benefits. Those who subscribe to the LoL Esports channel will find different benefits, such as:

    • Ad-Free Viewing Experience
    • Event-Exclusive Twitch Chat Emotes
    • Twitch Channel Badges
    • Channel Points
    • Subscriber-Only chat

    MSI Pick’EMS 2025

The PickÉms powered by AWS is finally back for MSI 20205. This event allows fans to predict the outcomes of MSI and earn special in-game rewards. All you need to do is go to the MSI’s official page and drag and drop the teams into the slots where you think they will end up.

Players who decide to take part in this event will have the chance to win different prizes. The rewards include capsules, emotes, and more.

MSI 2025 will be an epic League of Legends event that will feature 10 of the best teams in the world right now. This year, the event features teams from each region as follows:

    • China (LPL) – Anyone’s Legend and Bilibili Gaming
    • Korea (LCK) – T1, Gen.G
    • Europe (LEC) – Movistar KOI, G2 Esports
    • Americas (LTA) – FlyQuest, Furia
    • Asia Pacific – (LCP) – CTBS Flying Oyster, GAM Esports

We can see that all of LoL’s biggest names will be at this year’s MSI, so we can expect to see a fantastic event. With that said, some teams here have much better chances of winning the competition than others.

If we look at past performances, we can see that teams like Gen.G, T1, and Bilibili Gaming are in an excellent position to win. Each one has proven countless times that it can defeat all of the best teams in the world, so it’s no surprise that many bookies will consider it a potential favorite.

    MSI 2025 Broadcast Talent

One of the biggest League of Legends competitions in the world will allow us to watch all of the popular talents. The English broadcast panel will include the following names:

    • Azael
    • Kobe

One of the reasons why this League of Legends event is so popular is because of the prize pool. The total reward is $2M, and here’s what it will look like:

    • 7th-8th Place – $130,000
    • 9th Place – $100,000

    Conclusion

We expect MSI 2025 to be one of the most intriguing LoL events of the year, and it will prepare us for this year’s Worlds. We will see all of the big players in action, so definitely keep an eye on the competition. Also, don’t forget to follow Blix.gg for the latest LoL news.
