Riot announced that Yunara would join League of Legends over a month ago. Following the arrival of the LoL Patch 25.14, we finally have access to the new ADC. She definitely looks scary on paper, so this League of Legends Yunara guide will go through everything you need to know about the champion. Yunara Guide – Abilities
If you want to learn everything about Yunara’s abilities and how they work, we recommend checking our detailed overview. Instead of going through each ability again, we’d like to share a few words about how to use them.
- Starting with her passive, Vow of the Fist Lands allows her to do additional magical damage. This separates her from almost all other ADCs because they do physical damage. Considering how it works, focusing on increasing your critical strike is a good idea.
- Her Q costs 8 Unleash to use, meaning she must attack first before using it. The active ability is great for clearing waves because of its 30% bonus damage to minions who have less than 30% HP. What also makes it special is that it can spread to different enemies in any direction, making it a strong AoE.
- Her W’s cast time scales with attack speed, and when it’s in her Transcendent State, Arc of Ruin is her ultimate ability that has a lower CD. It’s worth knowing that the Transcendent State’s version works with Flash and can get extra range or even change its direction. Sadly, this is not the case when using the normal one.
- Yunara’s E in the Transcendent State is also considered an Ultimate ability. Once her E gets empowered, she can even dash through some walls.
- Yunara’s R – This ability will refresh her E, so it is a good idea to use the latter and then cast R. You should also try using it once Q ends, and you can also use your W and E before Yunara’s R. From our tests, it seems like they refresh when the ult is over.
League of Legends Yunara Build
Now that you know more about her abilities and how they work, it’s time for the Yunara Build.
- Generally speaking, you should level your ultimate whenever possible.
- Outside of it, our tests prove that maxing Q seems to be the way to go. The ability increases Yunara’s DPS, so it’s important to have it.
- W and E work fine, but we think E is a bit better because it allows her to be more mobile.
Runes & Boots
When it comes to the Yunara Runes, there are several options that you can go for. Here are our recommendations:
- Considering how the champion works, Lethal Tempo seems to be an excellent option because it benefits from her attack speed. Aside from that, the classic Coup De Grace and Cut Down will do well against squishy and tanky enemies, respectively.
- Aside from that, you can also go for the Free Boots and Cookies, as well as the Hail of Blades.
When it comes to boots, our tests show that Sorcerer’s Shoes seem to be the best option. The item provides crucial stats and makes Yunara highly effective against most targets.
Yunara Items
Since Yunara is a magical damage ADC, focusing on Crit and Attack Speed seems to be the most important steps. With that said, here are a few items that you can add to your inventory:
- Bloodthirster
- Yun Tal Wilarrows
- Runaan’s Hurricane
- Immortal Shieldbow
- Wiut’s End
- Terminmus
- Guardian Angel
Even though she relies on her crit, Yunara can do well with other items. The champion benefits a lot from magic penetration and even has some kind of AP scaling.
How to Counter Yunara?
The 171st champion in League of Legends is very dangerous, and you will most likely need time to learn how to play with her. With that said, there will be many games where you have to play against her, and this is where it gets tricky. We have had to do that several times, so here are a few tips that can be very helpful:
- Yunar’s Level 2 is Strong – As mentioned, Yunara’s Q is very dangerous, and if she times it when hitting Level 2, she can easily bully you out of the lane. If you see that she is getting in the lead and about to hit level 2, it is a good idea to play more defensively. This will make it harder for her to make an aggressive move.
- Always keep track of her Q stacks – Yunara’s Q is her most dangerous ability when it comes to damage. You should always keep an eye on the stacks, and once they are close to 8, you have to expect her to do more damage. Once again, your best play here is to try to avoid the incoming damage.
- CC can do wonders – Like all ADCs, Yunara is squishy, so CCing her can be incredibly effective. Aside from allowing you to kill her much faster, she won’t be able to deal tons of damage.
In terms of counter picks, we have used several options. Nautilus, for example, is a solid voice because he is very tanky and can fight head-on. What’s more, this champion has a lot of CCs, and as mentioned, this works very well against the champion.
Ziggs is also an intriguing pick, but there is a catch because he needs to survive the early game. Once that happens, he can easily poke her from long range and stay away from her damage abilities.
Lastly, we have Samira. She is incredibly strong in fights and is great against aggressive heroes, such as Yunara, because she can turn the fight around. Just keep in mind that Samira will need to have a good team to work properly.
