The International 2025 is just around the corner, and it will include all of the top Dota 2 teams worldwide. After taking a look at North America, it is time to focus on its neighbour, South America. It’s safe to say that, historically, this is the biggest underdog across all Dota 2 regions, but we all know that the best teams here can upset everyone. So, let’s learn more about it.

South America’s History at The International
South America is not famous for achieving good results at The International. In fact, if we take a look at most of the previous events, we can see that it had a lot of early struggles.
For starters, SA usually has only one or a few representatives at a big international event. While it’s true that teams like beastcoast and Infamous had a solid run at TI9, generally speaking, the teams here often have problems.
Even though South America’s results haven’t been consistent, the region has had its breakthrough moments. This proves that there are teams here that have what it takes.
At The International 2025, SA remains the underdog, but it’s interesting to see if it can go up against some of the best in the world.
The 2025 Contender – HEROIC
Following the South America TI 2025 Closed Qualifiers, only one team made it to the big event – HEROIC. The squad emerged victorious among 10 teams and secured the lone spot for the event.
It’s safe to say that HEROIC is the region’s strongest representative. Thanks to players like 4nalog, Whisper, Scotfield, Yuma, and KJ, the SA squad, HEROIC is definitely not a team that goes down without a fight. Let’s not forget that HEROIC won the PGL Wallachia Season 2 and became the first-ever South American team to win a big international event.
HEROIC’s slot for The International 2025 did not come easy. The team had to go through deadly qualifiers that included OG, LATAM, and Edge. In fact, the latter defeated HEROIC once, but 4nalog and the rest bounced back and ended up winning the qualifiers.
Strengths vs Status Quo
Even though HEROIC is not among the TI 2025 favorites, the team is dangerous. It offers something that can be very strong in such matchups: fearless unpredictability.
The team is famous for its interesting drafts that are often not aligned with the current meta. While this is risky, this approach can definitely surprise some of the big names at the tournament.
The International 2025 Predictions for South America
Since the region only has one representative, the lone dark horse must do everything possible to survive the Group Stage. We do not have enough information about them yet, but one thing is for sure—they won’t be easy.
Assuming HEROIC survives, it has good chances of delivering nasty surprises in the Playoffs and securing a top-eight finish. The odds for the team are high, so we will have to wait and see what’s going to happen.
Closing Thoughts
No one can deny that South America’s best days in Dota 2 are behind them. Gone are the times when beastcoast and Infamous were on par with some of the best in the world, and the region had several representatives at TI. Sadly, SA only got one slot for the 2025 edition, so fans won’t see the likes of OG.Latam and Edge in action.
The good news is that HEROIC is definitely the best Dota 2 team in South America. If there’s one squad capable of disrupting the status quo, it is them. TI 2025 may not crown them champions, but they could cement SA as a better region than North America.
