The LoL Patch 25.21 notes are already out, even though the previous update (LoL Patch 25.20) launched just a few days ago. While most players are preparing for Worlds 2025, Riot Games is already working on rebalancing early-game items that will shake up the post-Worlds meta.
This patch focuses on item reworks rather than champion adjustments — meaning Doran’s Ring, Doran’s Shield, and Doran’s Blade are all seeing significant tweaks that could affect nearly every lane.

LoL Patch 25.21 Item Changes: Doran’s Ring, Shield, and Blade Updates
One of the core ideas behind the League of Legends Patch 25.21 will be the balance of different starting items. The LoL Patch 25.20 patch was all about Worlds 2025, so this will be the first new update after the event. Based on the information we have, things like Doran’s shields and Ring will be among the affected options.
Doran’s Ring Adjustments
- Restores 1 mana per second instead of 2–5.
- If the user is manaless or at full mana, 45% of this value is restored as HP.
Doran’s Shield Nerf
- Max heal reduced from 45 → 40.
- Less sustain in the early game, particularly affecting melee champions in tough lanes.
Doran’s Blade Overhaul
- Removed lifesteal.
- Now heals 2% of the damage you deal (3% for AoE or pet damage).
- Gains a new passive, Life Drain, with the same healing behavior.
Second Wind Adjustment
The rune no longer provides a flat 3 HP heal — expect slightly weaker early sustain across many lanes.
When Will LoL Patch 25.21 Go Live?
Players can already test some of these changes on PBE servers, and the LoL 25.21 release date is confirmed for October 22, 2025.
Once it hits live servers, every region will receive the patch within 24 hours of deployment.
What to Expect After Worlds 2025
Aside from the new patch, League of Legends fans have to prepare for Worlds 2025. This will be the game’s biggest tournament, and it will include all of the top-tier teams. We already have a comprehensive overview of Worlds 2025, so be sure to check it out before watching.
