We can’t say we were surprised after learning that AVULUS has disbanded its Dota 2 roster. This comes just two months after finalising its lineup for the new season, but the lack of results made it short-lived.
AVULUS no Longer has a Dota 2 Roster
AVULUS, one of the European Dota 2 squads, no longer has an active roster in the game, just two months after finalizing it. Although it looks promising on paper with players like Lorenof, Smiling Knight, SabeRLighT-, Ekki, and Janter, it was unable to satisfy users’ expectations. In fact, the team only qualified for one event – DreamLeague Season 27. Sadly, it seems like the squad has had some kind of internal issues because ESL, the event organizer, announced that MOUZ will take AVULUS’s roster.
The official statement from the organization simply said that the roster has been released. The team also thanked its players and said that the “next chapter of AVULUS is just around the corner. In other words, we would not be surprised if the organization follows OG’s footsteps and signs a completely new roster.
It should be noted that before the roster’s departure, this was AVULUS’s second attempt to compete in Dota 2. The first one was based around SoNNeikO and it did really well, but once he left, the squad slowly started underperforming. As a result, AVULUS decided to reorganize its operation and rebuild its roster for the 2025/26 competitive season.
Despite adding Lorenof, one of the most promising midders, and SaberLight, Liquid’s star, these two players were not enough to make a difference. As mentioned, AVULUS only secured a slot for one tournament and missed out on a lot of other options.
AVULUS’s Next Steps
Considering the organization’s official statement, we believe it is only a matter of time before we learn more about the new roster. It is very likely to see a similar move like OG, where the WEU organization signed up a full roster competing in a different region.
