Elon Musk has teased the gaming potential of his Grok 5 AI in a new post on X, challenging top League of Legends pros to face it on the Rift. The proposed showdown aims to test whether Grok 5 can match — or even outperform — the best human players under fair, human-like conditions.
Grok 5 vs League of Legends Pros: What We Know So Far
According to Elon Musk, “Grok 5 is designed to be able to play any game just by reading the instructions and experimenting”. It seems like he is very confident in his AI and wants to see if his model could defeat the best League of Legends players in the world.
How Grok 5 Would Play League of Legends Like a Human
In his post, he also stated that Grok 5 will only look at the monitor with a camera and see the same thing as any other player. Also, his reaction latency and click rate will be no faster than that of a human. The goal of these limitations is to make the AI have the same setup as humans. In other words, Grok won’t be able to exploit the game’s metadata, logs, and everything else.
This will definitely be one of the most interesting games of the year because it will show AI’s new capabilities. This is where we have to remind ourselves that this won’t be the first time an AI model will go up against professional gamers, because OpenAI actually played against OG in a Dota 2 match six years ago. People may remember that these events took place in 2019, but OpenAI surprised everyone by defeating the best Dota 2 team in the world back then.
Considering that AI has become 100 times better in the last 6 years, we can only imagine what’s going to happen in a potential clash between Grok and T1, for example. Make sure to follow us for more details.
