First Stand Tournament 2025 – New Riot Event & Fearless Draft Explained
One of the notable events in League of Legends in 2025 was the First Stand Tournament. This was the inaugural edition of a brand-new tournament from Riot Games, taking place between March 10 and 15.
What separated it from others is that the competition put the best teams from each of the five LoL regions against each other. It had a similar feeling to Worlds, and it seems like a lot of people enjoyed it because the tournament got tons of viewers.
One of the biggest innovations about the First Stand tournament was the introduction of Fearless Draft. This is the format where once a champion has been played in a series, he can no longer appear again, no matter which team got it. This new mode quickly gained popularity because it forces teams to be more creative.
As for the event itself, Hanwha Life Esports defeated Karmine Corp in the final and won the first title. It will be interesting to see the 2026 version of this event.
MSI 2025 Vancouver – Gen.G vs T1 and Bo5 Marathon

The next of the top League of Legends moments of 2025 that we need to share more about is related to the Mid-Season Invitational. The event took place between June 27 and July 12 in Vancouver, Canada. It was special because it was the first LoL tournament in Canada and the 2nd MSI in North America.
All the matches that took place here were amazing to watch. The competitive tension soared because there were a total of 19 Bo5 series during the event. Nine of them went to a deciding game 5, which is the most we’ve ever seen at a LoL tournament.
In terms of the results, Gen.G was on another level, and the team won the competition. The Korean powerhouse defeated T1 after a dramatic Grand Final, and this put the team in an excellent position for Worlds 2025. However, as we’ll see in a bit, this was not enough to help the team win the tournament.
Worlds 2025 – T1’s Historical Result
The League of Legends Worlds 2025 was the tournament that every fan was looking forward to. Taking place in China, the competition offered some amazing action across the board. We saw loads of epic games and all of them culminated in a dramatic final between T1 and KT Rolster.
This was one of those “David vs Goliath” battles because most people expected T1 to have little to no problems. Although Faker and the rest ended up winning the event, it was definitely not that easy because we saw 5 full games.
After the end of the competition, T1 became the first-ever team in League of Legends to win three consecutive World Championships. Faker was once again on another level, but Lee “Gumayusi” Min-heyong was the best, and he won the MVP award in the final. In fact, he became the first ADC to win this award since 2017. An interesting fact is that the player decided to join Hanwha Life Esports just a few weeks after his team won Worlds 2025.
League of Legends Controversies & Scandals of 2025
Even though 2025 was probably one of the better years for League of Legends when it comes to scandals, there were one or two things that deserve more attention.
Perhaps the biggest public uproar started with Gabriel “Bwipo” Rau after his actions in September. In case you may not remember, he basically made sexist remarks during a live stream and said that women do not have a place in LoL esports.
As you can probably guess, the backlash was swift, and his team suspended him for several matches. Not only that, but Riot Games even decided to remove him from Worlds 2025 anthem video. Some people thought that was a bit excessive, but it can’t be denied that the player definitely crossed a line.
The second controversy is related to Bilibili Gaming, one of the big names in League of Legends. One of the Worlds 2025 favorites was eliminated from the competition early on, and shortly after that, some of the players were caught visiting an illegal gambling venue in Shanghai. Needless to say, this has caused serious outrage because fans were disappointed by the players’ behavior.
Legacy & What 2025 Means for LoL’s Future

Overall, we can conclude that 2025 will stand in LoL history as a turning point. This was the year we saw the 15th anniversary of LoL Esports, so we saw a revamped classic trophy design among many new things.
This was also the year that we saw interesting structural changes. The addition of things like Fearless Draft and a new circuit of multi-regional leagues made the game even more interesting than it already was.
Overall, 2025 will be remembered as an interesting year in LoL because it features a lot of changes. Fans are definitely looking forward to 2026, and we’ll ensure that you have all the necessary information.
