Kang “TheShy” Seung-lok, one of the leading Korean top-laners in League of Legends, decided to take some time off from the competitive League of Legends Scene. We’ve learnt that from an official announcement from Invictus Gaming’s official Weibo account.
ThyShy Will Take a Break from Competitive League of Legends
People who’ve been following TheShy for a while know that this is the second time he decided to step away from the competitive League of Legends Scene. He did the same in 2024 and he decided to do it again now.
Based on his own words, he will not be leaving the team because “iG is his home”. The player said that he is thankful for everything he and his team achieved this year and that he will take part in different charitable events.
Many League of Legends fans will be disappointed by this decision because TheShy is an iconic player. He is widely regarded as one of the best top laners in the game’s history and is renowned for his aggressive playstyle.
TheShy has always been a force to be reckoned with, but the player proved himself during Worlds 2018. He was one of the big reasons for Invictus Gaming’s triumph and quickly became one of the fan-favorites. Sadly, the Chinese powerhouse hasn’t been able to repeat the same results since then.
Following his success, the player moved to Weibo Gaming and also helped the team. After spending two years there, he decided to rejoin Invictus Gaming in 2025 and got the chance to play with Song “Rookie” Eui-jin. He was TheSky’s former teammate and they won Worlds 2018 together.
Sadly, 2025 has not been the best year for the Chinese powerhouse. The team was unable to achieve the results it wanted and lost the Play-In Stage match against T1.
