Perfect World has just revealed the locations where the highly anticipated Shanghai Major will be held, scheduled to take place from November 30th to December 15th.
The Opening and Elimination stage is scheduled to take place at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center. This venue has a maximum capacity of 5,000 spectators, according to a representative from Perfect World.
The playoffs will take place at the SPD Bank Oriental Sports Center indoor arena, which can accommodate up to 13,000 spectators. This venue will be the exciting setting for the final four days of the competition.
Having a live audience at all three stages of a Major tournament is a rare occurrence. The most notable instance of this happening on a large scale was at IEM Rio 2022. A smaller audience was also present during the first two stages of the StarLadder Major Berlin 2019.
Perfect World’s decision to host the first Chinese Major speaks volumes about the growing popularity of CS2 in the country. This surge in popularity was evident at the latest IEM Chengdu and CS Asia Championships competitions, showcasing the immense growth of the game in China over the past few years.
