NRG has made an official announcement regarding the addition of Nick’ nitr0′ Cannella to their CS2 roster. After spending the initial six months of 2024 competing in VALORANT for M80, ‘nitr0’ will be returning to CS2. His addition to the team comes as a replacement for Colby ‘Walco’ Walsh, who has officially departed from the roster.
Upon joining NRG, ‘nitr0’ will have the opportunity to reunite with former teammates Damian ‘daps’ Steele and Josh’ oSee’ Ohm. This reunion is particularly significant as they previously played together during his extensive tenure on Liquid.
The experienced in-game leader aims to breathe new life into a struggling NRG lineup, which has not achieved much success since the organization returned to CS last year.
NRG had a disappointing start after their return to the game. Although they successfully requalified for ESL Challenger League, they faced a series of failures in online qualifiers, including the PGL Copenhagen Major Americas RMR qualifier.
Following Rocket’s disqualification, NRG received an invitation to compete at the Americas RMR. However, they were defeated by paiNand Imperial, leading to their exit from the competition.
As a result of their performance in the Major circuit, NRG made changes to their lineup. They transitioned daps from a playing role to head coach, released Justin ‘FaNg‘ Coakley, and added ‘Walco’ and Timothy’ autimatic’ Ta to the team.
NRG’s performance improved slightly, but still couldn’t make it through several online qualifiers. However, they achieved a surprise victory over M80 in their last match before the player break. This win qualified the team for the BLAST Fall Showdown 2024.
