On November 13, the players, and staff who until then represented MNM Gaming came together to make a statement to the community.
The text reads: “MNM Gaming owes current players and support staff, as well as ex-player and former staff member, a staggering total of over £200,000”.
‘What is most disheartening is the multiple promises that have been broken by MNM Gaming. We’ve been repeatedly assured of payments that never materialized, and the deadlines set by the organization have consistently gone unmet. (‘¦) We uncovered that prize pool money was being used to partially cover salaries (‘¦)’ ‘ the roster claims.
BLIX.GG contacted the squad allegedly injured by MNM Gaming. According to the roster, the problems with the payments started ‘around June/July’ of the present year, however ‘some received their last salary in August but after asking a lot’.
The whole situation started because of Six Invitational: ‘We started to question it because we learnt from other teams that SI23 was being paid while the last cash prize we received was Stage 3 2022.’
But what does MNM say about these unsettled payments? A person from the project responded to us stating: ‘…it was related to money transfers taking time and investors that also took time to send the promised money/investment. But the situation was supposed to be solved “quickly” at first.’
The same source, who asked to remain anonymous, confirmed to BLIX.GG the injured parties are evaluating a legal process: ‘Yes we are still exploring options and trying to understand how to do it/what’s the process, but we will try something for sure because of how big the due amount is.’
With the organization’s contracts ending this month, the cast and staff announced they’re open to proposals as a team and individually.
The situation surrounding MNM is still undefined. If the players and staff want to stay together, they’ll have to go to an organization with a place in the European League or go to an organization willing to buy a place.
We asked the squad representative if any organization has already contacted them regarding the European League issue: ‘We had a few contacts so far but the process around the EUL slot will probably take a lot of time and orgs can (from my understanding) choose to take a completely new team. So even if we want to stay together, there is a high chance we all go separate ways. Also, because the market is moving fast during every transfer window and after a few months without getting paid we all have to consider our personal situation.’
BLIX.GG contacted MNM for comment, however, we had not received a response at the time this article was published.
