The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) has canceled the ban on the resources, including Steam and Valve’s games ‘ CS:GO and Dota 2.
Kominfo noted that Valve had registered its resources as required by Indonesian law.
Last week, Indonesia had banned access to huge numbers of internet services, games and other services after the companies failed a deadline to register with the country’s database.
Later on, Kominfo official Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan announced that Valve had been in the process of completing the registration process.
The Indonesian law, also known as MR5, compels the internet companies to cooperate with the Indonesian government. It gives Indonesia the power to force online platforms to take down content which the government deems unlawful or a threat to public order.
In 2021, the digital rights group Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) called the policy “invasive of human rights.”
