Counter-Strike 2 got a new update on March 5. While it brings some quality-of-life improvements and backend changes, the main highlight is a major rework of Inferno’s A bombsite.

According to Valve’s official patch notes, these changes are meant to improve one of the most hotly contested spots in competitive play.

Inferno A Site Changes: Graveyard Removed, Balcony Extended

    Inferno A Site Updated

The most impactful adjustments in this update are structural changes to Inferno’s A site, specifically targeting long-standing defensive positions and tight post-plant angles.

    Graveyard Closed Off

The well-known Graveyard spot is now closed off.

Before, Graveyard gave Counter-Terrorists a strong anchor position with several headshot angles and good post-plant retake options. Closing it off makes the site’s defense simpler and removes one of the trickiest spots for Terrorists to clear during executes.

    This change will probably:

    • Reduce crossfires between Pit and the site.
    • Make post-plants slightly less claustrophobic.
    • Shift defensive setups toward Pit, site boxes, and rotation-heavy setups.

This is a big change to a spot that’s been part of the map in different ways for years.

    Balcony Extended at Apartments

The Balcony by Apartments is now longer, giving Terrorists more room as they move out toward A site.

This extra space changes things like:

    • Entry spacing for apartment pops.
    • Close-range duels between Balcony players and Pit defenders
    • Utility timing, especially Molotovs and counter-smokes
    • With the platform extended, Valve seems to want fights here to be less cramped and more straightforward.

    Pit Wall Raised

The wall above Pit is now higher, which changes the sightlines between the site, balcony, and players holding deep Pit.

This tweak removes some of the tiny angles that were there before and makes holding Pit more about positioning than finding small gaps.

    Movement and Clipping Adjustments

The update also fixes clipping issues near the small window by the Second Mid Balcony. These changes make movement smoother and stop awkward boosts or other odd behavior.

These fixes are minor compared to removing Graveyard, but they help make the map more consistent overall.

    CS2 Gameplay & Quality-of-Life Improvements

    CS2 Gameplay

Beyond Inferno, the March 5 patch introduces several player-friendly features.

Steam Market Items Now Usable While Listed

Now, players can use items they’ve listed on the Steam Community Market in-game while they’re still for sale. The item stays equipped and usable unless it sells, but you can’t change it while it’s listed.

This is great news for traders and skin fans, since you no longer have to unequip items just to list them.

    Genesis Terminal Offer Limit

There’s now an option to set a maximum offer value when dealing with Arms Dealer offers in Genesis Terminals. This gives players more control and helps avoid paying too much by mistake.

    Minor Fixes

The patch also brings some smaller fixes, like animation tweaks. Even the chickens got some attention.

As usual, you can find the full patch details on the official Counter-Strike 2 update page.

What This Means for Competitive CS2

Inferno has always been one of the most complex maps in the game. By removing Graveyard and making Balcony bigger, Valve has:

    • Reduced defensive layering on A
    • Streamlined attacker entry paths
    • Shifted emphasis toward cleaner, more readable fights

Pro teams will have to change how they play on A site, especially with post-plant setups and Pit coordination. You can expect new grenade lineups, different crossfires, and maybe faster A pushes in early rounds as teams try out the new layout.

The March 5 update doesn’t completely change CS2, but it does make a real difference to one of its most famous bombsites.

We’ll see more about how these changes affect competition as teams start using them in scrims and tournaments.
