Brazilian Counter-Strike legend Gabriel ‘FalleN‘ Toledo has revealed that he may not be able to participate in the playoff stage of ESL Pro League Season 23 if his team, FURIA Esports, manages to reach the final bracket.
During a recent livestream, the veteran in-game leader explained that a previously scheduled personal commitment in Brazil conflicts with the tournament’s playoff dates. Because of that obligation, he would have to step away from the team temporarily should they qualify for the decisive stage.
sidde Expected To Step In

In FalleN’s absence, FURIA’s head coach Sid ‘sidde‘ Macedo is expected to take his place on the server. While the situation is far from ideal, the Brazilian captain expressed confidence that the team could still remain competitive.
FalleN acknowledged that prioritizing a personal commitment over a tournament is unusual in his career, but said the circumstances made the decision unavoidable.
The two-time Major champion also pointed out that sidde already plays a major role behind the scenes, helping organize the team’s approach and maintaining structure during matches. Stepping into the server would simply mean translating that impact directly into gameplay.
A Potential Setback for FURIA
The timing of the announcement could prove significant. With several top teams absent from the event, FURIA entered the competition as one of the strongest squads in attendance and a realistic contender for the title.
However, losing their experienced in-game leader and primary AWPer during the playoff stage could disrupt the team’s momentum if they reach the final rounds of the tournament.
Still, FURIA’s core lineup, including stars like Kaike ‘KSCERATO‘ Cerato and Yuri ‘yuurih‘ Santos has shown strong form in recent months and could help stabilize the team even with a stand-in.
