FISSURE Universe Episode 8 finally came to an end as we saw the Grand Final. There was an epic battle between Aurora Gaming and Team Spirit, but in the end, Aurora lifted the trophy. Here’s what you may have missed out on.
Aurora Gaming Defeated Team Spirit at FISSURE Universe Episode 8
This was definitely the most anticipated FISSURE Universe Episode 8 Grand Finals in a long time because it’s been a while since we had two Eastern European powerhouses going up against each other. These two dominated throughout the event and definitely deserved to be there.
Aurora Gaming’s first match in the UB Quarterfinals was against BetBoom Team and this series was epic on its own. It definitely wasn’t easy, but in the end, Aurora stood out and advanced to the next phase.
The next challenge for the squad was Team Yandex and this series was definitely “easier”. Following that match, Aurora Gaming met with Team Spirit for the first time and the team ripped through them. Both maps were under 40 minutes long as Aurora’s Dark Willow carried the team to victory.
Moving on to Team Spirit, the squad had to eliminate MOUZ and Team Liquid before meeting Aurora for the first time. Neither of the series was a walk in the park, but in the end, the squad made it.
Following the terrifying first loss against Aurorara, Team Spirit played against Team Yandex in the LB Final. We expect the match to be a lot closer, but TS clearly dominated (especially in Game 1, it was just 24 minutes) and reached the final.
Aurora Gaming vs Team Spirit – Grand Final
The Grand Final between these two powerhouses was everything we could want to see. 5 games full of epic moments that ended with Aurora Gaming’s success. In fact, the team started with a bang after securing a quick victory in Game 1. Spirit saw that the squad used Dark Willow again and ensured the hero was unavailable for the next two matches. It seems like this was a good idea because the squad equilized the match and even got the lead.
AG was just one game away from losing, but the team did the impossible and win Game 4. This provided them with a lot of motivation for Game 5, which ended in just 32 minutes. The impressive victory gave Aurora Gaming’s first big Dota 2 trophy in a while, so it will be interesting to see if the team will keep its momentum.
As for Team Spirit, it remains one of the most solid Dota 2 squads around. There are several big events ahead, so we can’t wait to see them in action again.
