League of Legends patch 26.03 – Preview
We are a little over a week prior to the arrival of the LoL Patch 26.03 and a few days after the LoL 26.2 Patch became available. Riot made a preview of some of the things that we will see, so we will try to go over all of them.
Champions and Item Changes
Starting with the champion changes, several names will get a fairly big nerf. This includes Braum, Diana, Ekko, Niliah, Ryze, Varus, Zed and Volibear. We will also see several small buffs in the face of Ahri, Briar, Draven, Kayn, Maokai, and a few others.
When it comes to item buffs, Actualizer will be cuffed so that it will work on more champions aside from Ryze. Aside from that, Rune Mage will also receive a nerf so that it can be balanced. Judging from what Riot mentioned, the overall changes should not be negative for the champion.
Season 2026 Game Metrics, Towers & Objectives
Riot Phroxxzon maintained that snowballing has basically stabilised below Season 15 levels. Also, Riot’s observations show that the average game times are slowly going back to Season 15’s level. The game does feel a bit faster than before, but Riot said that it will leave it as it is.
Another important thing to remember is that Riot is not planning to make any changes to the first Baron and other objectives.
Ranked, ARAM: Mayhem, and Vision Changes
Regarding the ranked changes, Riot appears to be investigating reports of negative LP swings in some regions. The company will also pay attention to the duo-queue tuning, so expect to see interesting changes here.
In terms of the vision changes, Riot will try to make early warding less rewarding. The Yellow Trinket cooldowns will be reverted to their S15 levels.
As for ARAM: Mayhem, it is getting a large update in patch 26.03. There will be a couple of notable changes, such as new augment sets, 40+ new augments, the Season of Mayhem Progression Track, and different bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements.
Changes to Mel
The last thing we want to talk about in this update is Mel’s mini-rework. The champion should become more flexible because she will have clear counterplay. Here is a list of all of the changes we will see:
- Overwhelm (Passive) – The changes will reduce the damage reliability and thus offer clearer reading in fights and lanes.
- Radiant Volley (Q) – The cast time and projectile speed will be adjusted and the ability will be slower and clearer at long range. As a result, it will become easier to dodge and won’t apply as much pressure.
- Rebuttal (W) – It will not grant damage immunity; instead, it will give a shield. This will remove Mel’s huge safety net.
- Solar Snare (E) – This ability will have an improved hitbox, range and clarity. This will help her have more focus on setup and timing.
- Golden Eclipse (R) – Mel’s ultimate will remain the same.
League of Legends Patch 26.03 Release Date
If everything goes according to plan, Riot will release the latest LoL Patch 26.03 on February 4 this year. We would not be surprised if there are a few other changes that were not mentioned here, so make sure to follow us for more details.
