There have been rumours about the League of Legends MMO for some time now, but the project remains a mystery. Riot revealed it’s been working on something similar before, and it seems like the work is still ongoing. Based on the information we have, Riot’s MMO has received a boost by adding an ex-World of Warcraft veteran.

World of Warcraft Legend Joins Riot’s MMO Team

World of Warcraft's ex-Lead Producer has joined Riot Games to work on their MMO team.

Raymond Bartos said, “I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity and I can't wait to get started … [to] help deliver an MMO experience players truly enjoy” pic.twitter.com/KkBbyLVQIw

    — News on X (@GlobalNewsOnX) January 21, 2026

Raymond Bartos is a well-known name within the World of Warcraft community. He used to be a former lead producer for the game and is behind many of its successes. As you know, WoW is generally considered to be the most popular MMO in the world and has been around for 22 years.

Having lead producers from this title join Riot’s MMO suggests that the studio is serious about its work. It seems like Riot wants to take this to the next level.

An interesting fact is that Bartos actually shared some details about his move to Riot. According to him, the company attracted him because of its values and the way everything worked. He believes that working in a healthy environment has a significant impact on the final product, especially in video games like that.

Bartos finished by stating that he is grateful for the opportunity to work on this massive project. This is definitely good news for Riot’s fans and those who like MMOs. An interesting fact is that Raymond Bartos will be working alongside Orlando Salvatore, another name who used to be a part of Blizzard and worked on WoW. He joined Riot in 2024 and will do his best to make the company’s MMO stand out.

What can we Expect from Riot’s MMO?

What is important to know is that League of Legends’ MMO is a long way from release because we do not have any information about it yet. People expect to wait at least a couple of years because Riot has a lot of other projects it is working on. League of Legends, for example, is set to undergo a major overhaul in 2027, and this will require a lot of attention.

We at Blix.gg will keep an eye on this project and share any information we have. One thing is certain – Riot will not release a new game unless it meets certain quality standards. In other words, the game should look and feel amazing once it is available.
