It&#8217;s no surprise.<\/p>\n<p>ESL Pro League Season 16 was the start of their regress and shaky results followed by an unexpected disastrous elimination at IEM Rio from the Legends stage without a single win.<\/p>\n<p>To their credit, it was an awesome year for them with so many positives regardless of the step back in the last 3 months.<\/p>\n<h2>Team Vitality:<\/h2>\n<div class=\"_44tKOV3EvA2Ivv21VkJmnQ==\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Team members from Vitality embrace after a win at the PGL Antwerp Major\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/blix.gg\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/937f48dbc26fc27c.png\"> <span>Team members from Vitality embrace after a win at the PGL Antwerp Major<\/span><\/div>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/photos.pglesports.com\/PGL-Antwerp-Major-2022-Legends-Stage-Day-3\/i-kzVs6gb\/A\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PGL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The announcement of &#8216;\u009cDupreeh&#8217;\u009d, &#8216;\u009cMagisk&#8217;\u009d and &#8216;\u009czonic&#8217;\u009d sparked some hope for the hornets to finally win some tournaments and make themselves a feared team, the only problem is that it never happened.<\/p>\n<p>Getting eliminated from the early stages of most tournaments seemed like a continuous pattern regardless of the stacked lineup, &#8216;\u009cSpinx&#8217;\u009d was later added and managed to win their only tournament this year ESL Pro League Season 16.<\/p>\n<p>As some teams somehow show incredible performances at Majors, Vitality wasn&#8217;\u0099t even close, failing to make the Playoffs stages in both Antwerp &amp; Rio, ironically losing their match against none other than Spinx&#8217;\u0099s old team.<\/p>\n<h2>G2 Esports:<\/h2>\n<div class=\"_44tKOV3EvA2Ivv21VkJmnQ==\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"G2 players shake hands with their opponents at the end of a game of CS:GO at the Antwerp Major\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/blix.gg\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/5a6f2c9f2fa47d58.png\"> <span>G2 players shake hands with their opponents at the end of a game of CS:GO at the Antwerp Major <\/span><\/div>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/photos.pglesports.com\/PGL-Antwerp-Major-2022-Legends-Stage-Day-3\/i-hsp3Rf6\/A\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PGL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Acquiring a young prodigy with the potential of becoming one of the best AWPers in the world can only be positive and beneficial for the team, long if not short term.<\/p>\n<p>bringing in &#8216;\u009cAleksib&#8217;\u009d &amp; &#8216;\u009cXQTZZZ&#8217;\u009d seemed like a good move on paper but failed on the server, the best result they achieved during the first six months was second place at IEM Katowice. in August, another wave of signings happened after &#8216;\u009cJackZ&#8217;\u009d was acquired by HEET, benching &#8216;\u009cAleksib&#8217;\u009d and signing both &#8216;\u009cjks&#8217;\u009d and &#8216;\u009cHooxi&#8217;\u009d after the success they showed with FaZe Clan &amp; Copenhagen Flames.<\/p>\n<p>The real test and goal were supposed to be IEM Rio 2022, again &#8216;\u009cwas supposed to&#8217;\u009d but G2 managed to absolutely surprise everyone as they didn&#8217;\u0099t even qualify following losses against Cloud9, 1WIN &amp; GamerLegion!<\/p>\n<p>Not making it to the Major created a big discussion around the community trying to piece the puzzle together, is &#8216;\u009cNiko&#8217;\u009d the problem? What happened? How will they recover?<\/p>\n<p>Luckily for the team, they ended the year on a good note lifting their first trophy at BLAST Premier: World Final 2022, a big success for both &#8216;\u009cHooxi&#8217;\u009d as an IGL &amp; &#8216;\u009c<a href=\"https:\/\/blix.gg\/news\/niko-everytime-you-play-against-them-faze-want-to-beat-them\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Niko<\/a>&#8216;\u009d who finally won a LAN after over 1000 dry days without a title to his name.<\/p>\n<h1>SURPRISES, SURPRISES, SURPRISES!<\/h1>\n<p>We can&#8217;\u0099t talk about 2022 without mentioning the unexpected and incredible run of Heroic, MOUZ &amp; Outsiders at the IEM Rio 2022 Major.<\/p>\n<p>MOUZ is a prime example of a successful academy, with three promoted academy players in addition to their coach they managed to go far and reach the semi-finals of IEM Rio.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps it was impossible to predict this run as it might not ever happen again, with average stats for the ex-academy trio it certainly wasn&#8217;\u0099t luck considering they beat Outsides, Team Liquid, Team Vitality, ENCE, and Cloud9 to reach the Semi-Finals.<\/p>\n<p>The fact that it happened will live on as a memory for the upcoming years of Counter-Strike history.<\/p>\n<p>Heroic never received the recognition they deserve among the best teams in the world, they were heroes that created their own story with their impressive runs at Majors.<\/p>\n<p>Leading up to <a href=\"https:\/\/blix.gg\/news\/outsiders-wins-rio-major-2022\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IEM Rio<\/a>, The Danes were 1st at Pinnacle Winter Series 3 &amp; Championship stacking enough points to keep them at the top 10 tables.<\/p>\n<p>Surely it took immense resilience to eliminate FURIA with a packed arena full of Brazilian fans screaming their lungs out making more pressure. Even though they lost the Grand Final they sure earned everyone&#8217;s respect becoming a team to keep an eye on.<\/p>\n<div class=\"_44tKOV3EvA2Ivv21VkJmnQ==\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"The roster for Outsiders take the stage in awe after taking the win in the Grand Finals at IEM Rio 2022\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/blix.gg\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/dea8d54c6063375a.png\"> <span>The roster for Outsiders take the stage in awe after taking the win in the Grand Finals at IEM Rio 2022<\/span><\/div>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ESLCS\/status\/1591911976070176768\/photo\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ESL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Outsiders have brought the joyful memories of the old legendary roster under the VP organization winning yet another Major only this time it was impossible to predict.<\/p>\n<p>Up until late May the team couldn&#8217;\u0099t find its rhythm and struggled quite a bit but all that changed after benching &#8216;\u009cYEKINDAR&#8217;\u009d &amp; &#8216;\u009cbuster&#8217;\u009d and signing the ex-K23 players; &#8216;\u009cfame&#8217;\u009d &amp; &#8216;\u009cn0rb3r7&#8217;\u009d. little did they know that this roster move would have the best possible outcome, winning ESL Challenger at DreamHack Rotterdam 2022 was nothing but an appetizer to a bigger and better main course where they let their hunger leash out upon all the teams that faced them in front of one the craziest crowds we&#8217;\u0099ve seen in Counter-Strike at IEM Rio 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Nothing can top the hunger to win a Major trophy.
