The Grand Final of BLAST World Final 2024 will see European team G2 face off against Spirit. It is two prodigies from Russia against each other, ‘m0NESY’ against ‘donk’. G2 Path to the Grand Final

G2 made it straight to the semi-final from the Group Stage. In the Group Stage, they played against Liquid and won with a 2-1 score. Then, they met Team Spirit and won with a 2-0 score, proceeding to the semi-final. In the semi-final match, they had to play against Vitality, and even though the match was even on paper, G2 won it with a 2-1 score in a confident way.

They might be at the top of their form right now, especially ‘m0NESY’, which keeps dominating almost every single game they play. Together with ‘NiKo’ and ‘malbsMd,’ it’s a deadly trio that can make it difficult for any team to play against them. 

Spirit Path to the Grand Final

Spirit didn’t have it that easy, and they had to grind through the bracket, starting from the quarter-final stage. In the Group Stage, they played against Vitality and won with a 2-0 score, but then they met G2 and lost it with a 1-2 score, losing their chance to get a semi-final spot, but proceeded to the quarter-finals. In the quarter-finals, they played against FaZe, and in a close two maps, they were able to win with a 2-0 score. In the semi-final, it was Astralis who was going hot at this tournament, and after the first map, ended up with a 13-5 score in favor of Spirit. It was looking like Spirit would make it with no problems, but it wasn’t the case since, on the second map, Astralis completely demolished Spirit with a score of 13-3. So it all went to the third map, and Spirit once again demolished Astralis with a score of 13-5, ending the series with a 2-1 score in their favor and proceeding to the Grand Final.

Mostly, it was three players that were leading the scoreboards for Spirit, it was ‘donk’, ‘zont1x’, and ‘sh1ro’, but in their semi-final match, their in-game leader ‘chopper’ showed us what he is capable of in a good day. He was the number one on the scoreboard for his team, carrying both as a player and as an in-game leader. They’re in great form but have yet to prove their ability to keep it consistent since they had problems with being consistent before.

This is the Grand Final match, and looking at these two teams, it is hard to predict a winner in a best-of-five series. But there are a few advantages on the G2 side; The first one is them being more consistent as a team for a longer period of time, and the second one is that they’re leading with an 8-1 score in a match-up history against Spirit. There is no doubt that Spirit is good enough to win here, but history is on the G2 side, so we expect G2 to win this match.

Can Spirit change the history between these two teams in such an important match, or will it be G2 to show that Spirit is just a comfortable team to play against?
