Liquid has just announced the addition of Torbjørn ‘mithR’ Nyborg, the former coach of Apeks, as part of the team’s off-season rebuild. This marks the team’s first official signing of the off-season.
The latest lineup submitted by Liquid for the BLAST Premier Fall Groups reveals that Roland ‘ultimate’ Tomkowiak and Justin ‘jks’ Savage are the final members yet to be announced.
Liquid made significant changes to their roster during the recent winter player break, including the addition of Wilton ‘zews’Prado, a coach who had won two Majors. However, the team’s performance in the first half of 2024 was disappointing, leading to their failure to qualify for the PGL Major Copenhagen. As a result, the team decided to part ways with ‘zews’ in June.
mithR has assumed the role of head coach, bringing with him recent experience from coaching Apeks, as well as previous stints with MOUZ and Renegades. Following Jakub ‘kuben’ GurczyÅski’s departure for ENCE, mithR took over at Apeks in September 2023. During his tenure, he helped the team maintain a top 15 world ranking and guided them to second-place finishes at Elisa Masters Espoo and ESL Challenger Atlanta.
In their announcement, Liquid emphasized mithR’s proficiency in developing in-game leaders, highlighting the significance of this skill as Russel ‘Twistzz’ Van Dulken is anticipated to take on the leadership role.
