Anubis is a map that replaced Dust 2 in a competitive map pool back in 2022. Now both of the maps are in the map pool, so that means that Anubis won’t go anywhere anytime soon, and since it’s being played on any level, you might step up your game by learning smokes on this map, which will end up in getting your win rate higher. Knowing the smokes can help your team much more whenever you play Anubis.

How to Practice Throwing Smokes
You will need to click the “PLAY” button, go to “PRACTICE” and “CASUAL“, and then turn the three buttons green, as shown on the left side in the video above. Then, pick the map you want to practice your smokes on and click “GO“.
After that, you’ll need to know a few console commands to make it easier to practice; here they are:
- sv_cheats 1 – enables other console commands
- bot_kick – to kick all the bots
- Bind KEY noclip – put any KEY you want, so after throwing a smoke, you can click it and fly following your smoke and see how it lands
- Bind KEY “give weapon_smokegrenade” – put any KEY you want, and it will give you an extra smoke grenade, so you won’t have to buy it once again
- Bind KEY “ent_fire smokegrenade_projectile kill; stopsound” – put any KEY you want, and it will make a smoke disappear as you click the key, so you don’t have to wait to throw another smoke
- sv_rethrow_last_grenade – situational, mostly used to practice flashbangs and molotovs, it makes you repeat your recent grenade and see it from the other perspective, for example, without throwing it once again
Now, it’s time to get to the most useful Anubis Smokes: Mid, A Site, and B Site.
Mid Area Smokes
Mid Window Smoke
- Why it matters: It prevents CT Players from having most of the control of the Mid Area.
- Common mistakes: Jumping at the wrong time while throwing a smoke might result in a smoke landing in the wrong position.
Note: To throw smoke, you must place yourself and the crosshair, as shown in the video, jump, and throw smoke simultaneously.
One of the most useful smokes on Anubis helps you take Mid Area control, which will help you play both B and A sites. The CTs will still have an option to peek through the Mid Double Doors, but it is a hard angle for them and risky.
Mid-Half Wall Smoke
- Why it matters: This smoke prevents CT players from rotating from B through Mid from any Mid Control.
- Common mistakes: Jumping at the wrong time while throwing a smoke might result in a smoke landing in the wrong position.
Note: To throw smoke, you must place yourself and the crosshair, as shown in the video, jump, and throw smoke simultaneously.
This smoke is beneficial once you split A site through A Main and Mid since you prevent the CT players from controlling mid or rotating from B through Mid. With this smoke, you can catch the CT players off guard while pushing A site from Mid and A Main at the same time without worrying about getting killed from behind.
Mid Dark Smoke
- Why it matters: Prevents CT Dark players from controlling anything towards the A site.
- Common mistakes: Jumping at the wrong time while throwing a smoke might result in a smoke landing in the wrong position.
Note: For this smoke, you should practice placing your crosshair right, as shown in the video, then making a jump and throwing your smoke.
This smoke is a must-have if you decide to push A, either a split A or just going straight to A, since you will prevent the CT Dark players from killing your team from behind and having a fast flank position on your team.
A Smokes
Connector Smoke
- Why it matters: Prevents all the CT players from rotating to A Site from Mid.
- Common mistakes: If you aren’t precise enough with a crosshair placement, smoke might fall in the wrong position.
Note: This smoke doesn’t require any practice. Place yourself and your crosshair, as shown in the video, and then use a simple left-click throw.
One of the two most important smokes for pushing A site, as it covers one of the two positions of rotating CT players and makes retaking A site almost impossible.
Heaven Smoke
- Why it matters: Prevents the CT players from peeking at A site from Heaven or rotating through CT from any control towards A site.
- Common mistakes: If you aren’t precise enough with a crosshair placement, smoke might fall in the wrong position.
Note: This smoke doesn’t require any practice. Place yourself and your crosshair, as shown in the video, and then use a simple left-click throw.
The second most important smoke to push after the A Connector Smoke, since it covers the second position where CT players usually hold and rotate through the CT Spawn, and using both of these smokes will make the A site easy to take control of.
B Smokes
Long Smoke
- Why it matters: Prevents CT players from holding B site from Long or rotating through CT Spawn to B.
- Common mistakes: If you aren’t precise enough with a crosshair placement, smoke might fall in the wrong position.
Note: This smoke doesn’t require any practice. Place yourself and your crosshair, as shown in the video, and then use a simple left-click throw.
This smoke covers one of the most critical positions for CT players rotating to B site through CT Spawn and makes it easier to take control of B site.
Palace Smoke
- Why it matters: Prevents CT players from holding B site from B Palace or rotating through Mid to B.
- Common mistakes: If you aren’t precise enough with a crosshair placement, smoke might fall in the wrong position.
Note: This smoke doesn’t require any practice. Place yourself and your crosshair, as shown in the video, and then use a simple left-click throw.
This smoke covers one of the most important positions for CT players rotating to the B site through Mid, making it easier to control the B site. Using this smoke will make it much easier for your team to take control of the B site.
B Dark Smoke
- Why it matters: It prevents CT Dark players from gaining control over the B site.
- Common mistakes: If you aren’t precise enough with a crosshair placement, smoke might fall in the wrong position.
Note: This smoke doesn’t require any practice. Place yourself and your crosshair, as shown in the video, and then use a simple left-click throw.
This smoke helps you to push B site without worrying about CT players playing Dark or jumping from Mid to Dark, and helps your team to take B site control. It is also a good smoke to throw if you have your teammate in Dark, and he can unexpectedly push through the smoke and surprise B players who won’t expect him there since you smoked it.
Cross Smoke
- Why it matters: This smoke prevents all the CT players holding B site from Long and Palace from any control over B site.
- Common mistakes: If you go to the left or right with your crosshair, it ends up in smoke, landing in the wrong position.
Note: For this smoke, you should practice placing your crosshair right, as shown in the video, then making a jump and throwing your smoke.
This smoke might be good to use when you have only one smoke and decide to push B site, as it covers both main rotation points for CT players. You will only need to clear the right side to take control of the B site, but CT players might use this smoke to push through it or to stay and wait behind the B site.
Pro Tips for Practicing & Executing Smokes
- Practice in slow motion using “host_timescale” commands.
- Have designated utility players on your team.
- Use jump-throw binds consistently.y
