Falcons are negotiating with G2 regarding the transfer of their top AWPer, Ilya ‘m0NESY’ Osipov, as reported by journalist Guillaume ‘neL’ Rathier.
The transition is anticipated to be finalized by the time of the BLAST.tv Austin Major, although it remains uncertain when he will replace Abdul ‘degster’ Gasanov in the starting roster. Prior to the Major, the team is set to participate in four tournaments (PGL Bucharest, IEM Melbourne, BLAST Rivals, and IEM Dallas).
neL Statement
‘m0NESY’ has been on the Falcons radar for quite some time and was the target of an offer from the Saudi organization during the winter off-season. He thought about making a move, but the Falcons could not agree with G2, who chose not to entertain offers for the player after losing another crucial player in Nikola ‘NiKo’ Kovač.
It seems that G2 has conceded in its efforts to persuade ‘m0NESY’ to extend his contract. It is now open to negotiating a deal to prevent losing him for nothing when his current contract expires.
Even though ‘m0NESY’ is in the last year of his contract, Falcons have allegedly had to pay a record transfer fee in CS history to persuade G2 to release the player. This situation arises after a lackluster beginning of the year for G2, who have secured only one victory against a top-10 team.
m0NESY’s exit will create a significant gap for G2 to cover. The 19-year-old has been an essential part of the team since his transfer from Natus Vincere in January 2022 for a reported $600,000, contributing to the team’s victories in six major events, including the IEM Katowice and IEM Cologne championships in 2023.
He has also earned many personal awards, including four MVP honors. In 2024, he was a contender for HLTV’s Player of the Year award but ultimately lost to Danil ‘donk’ Kryshkovets.
If they make a deal, Falcons will have the following lineup:
- Emil ‘Magisk’ Reif
- Nikola ‘NiKo’ Kovač
- Damjan ‘kyxsan’ Stoilkovski
- René ‘TeSeS’ Madsen
- Ilya ‘m0NESY’ Osipov
