The playoff stage of FISSURE Playground 2 kicks off tomorrow, where eight teams clash for a massive $1.25 million prize pool and one of the most prestigious trophies on the circuit. Reigning champions G2 and TheMongolZ enter as the teams to beat — but hungry challengers lurk, ready to seize the crown. With heavyweights like FURIA and Falcons in the mix, the stage is set for a thriller that could deliver a brand-new champion.

The Big Favorites: G2 & TheMongolZ

We would name the favorites G2 and TheMongolZ, as both of them won the most recent tournaments while playing against the best teams in the world and taking down Vitality, and they both did it. 

G2’s recent addition, ‘MATYS,’ and making ‘huNter-‘ an in-game leader seem like things they needed, but they’re yet to prove that they can be consistent.

TheMongolZ keep getting their big stage experience, and for about a year, it was their main problem, stopping them from making even more grand final appearances than they had.

Dark Horses Ready to Shock the Bracket

Aurora, FURIA, and Falcons are the dark horses of the playoff stage. Aurora made it to the Grand Final of EWC 2025, and the only team that stopped them there was TheMongolZ, one of the main favorites here. Other than that, they were looking great.

FURIA and Falcons both have the experience and individual skill to make it as far as possible on a good day if they bring their A Game and do it consistently throughout this playoff stage.

Underdogs with Nothing to Lose

The underdogs of this playoff stage will be Liquid, paiN, and Astralis. 

Liquid enters their final ride with Twistzz, but questions linger over whether they have the fire to go deep. It is hard to expect them to have enough motivation to make it far in the playoff stage, especially considering that they didn’t come close even before the roster change became inevitable. 

As for paiN and Astralis, both of these teams looked less prepared than any team in this playoff stage. If we look at their results, they’re far from being at the same level until proven otherwise.
