FlyQuest has officially announced the signing of Australian veteran Aaron “AZR” Ward as their new head coach. The move comes after the former Renegades and 100 Thieves in-game leader briefly stood behind the team at DraculaN Season 2, where he impressed the organization enough to secure a full-time role ahead of PGL Masters Bucharest 2025.

AZR From Player to Coach

AZR, best known for his leadership during Renegades and 100 Thieves’ international runs in CS:GO, returns to the top level in a new capacity. After Talon Esports disbanded their roster in March, the 33-year-old Australian had been inactive as a player but briefly joined FlyQuest as an in-game leader and interim coach during DraculaN Season 2.
At DraculaN tournament, FlyQuest managed to win against Metizport and Sinners before being eliminated by GenOne, finishing 7–8th in the event. The organization has now made AZR a permanent coach, showing their confidence in his leadership.
New Chapter for FlyQuest CS2

FlyQuest’s decision to make AZR a full-time coach comes at a critical moment. The team recently competed in the PGL Masters Bucharest 2025 Swiss stage, suffering a tight double-overtime loss to GamerLegion on Dust2 followed by an 11–13 defeat on Overpass.
Despite the setback, the organization appears committed to stability and long-term development under AZR’s guidance. His familiarity with the players and deep tactical experience could provide the consistency FlyQuest has been looking for since entering Counter-Strike 2 earlier this year.
Current FlyQuest Roster
- Joshua “INS” Potter
- Declan “Vexite” Portelli
- Iulian “regali” Harjău
- Corey “nettik” Browne
- Justin “jks” Savage
- Aaron “AZR” Ward – Head Coach
The roster’s Australasian core, combined with regali’s European flair, gives FlyQuest a diverse mix of experience and playstyles — one that AZR is uniquely positioned to unify given his regional ties and leadership background.
What’s Next?
FlyQuest’s next outings will test how quickly AZR can implement his systems and steady the lineup after a turbulent start. The organization’s investment in veteran leadership suggests a long-term vision rather than short-term results.
For AZR, this marks his official transition from veteran player to full-time coach — a move reflecting a growing trend of experienced CS pros stepping into strategic and mentoring roles within the evolving CS2 landscape.
