On September 7, 2025, G2 made history by becoming the first team this year to win a best-of-five match over Vitality in a thrilling 3-2 grand final at Wembley Arena, clinching the BLAST Open London 2025 championship. This marks G2’s first tournament win in 2025 and Nemanja “huNter-“ Kovač’s first achievement as in-game leader.

G2 Defeat Vitality to Claim BLAST Open London Title

Vitality vs. G2 – BLAST London Grand Final – Map Scores

The final was a rollercoaster: G2 dominated Dust2 early, stifling Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut’s pace with a commanding 10-2 halftime lead. Though Vitality battled back, G2 wrapped up the map. Vitality followed it up with strong showings on Mirage and Overpass to get back in control.

G2 put up a fight—pushing the match to an overtime victory on Inferno after Vitality let a match point slip during a low-buy scenario. The decider arrived on the Train, where G2 closed it out comfortably thanks to standout plays from young guns Nikita “HeavyGod” Martynenko and Matúš “MATYS” Šimko, sending the crowd into a frenzy.

    HeavyGod Claims First Career MVP

Nikita “HeavyGod” Martynenko – BLAST Open London Finals 2025 MVP

Nikita “HeavyGod” Martynenko was named the Most Valuable Player of BLAST Open London—his first MVP award at a major LAN event.

HeavyGod was already a frontrunner for MVP honors even before the grand final due to his superb performances earlier in the tournament—especially against FaZe, FURIA, and Spirit. Across the LAN, he posted a team-leading 1.25 rating, with a 1.32 rating in LAN play, narrowly eclipsed only by Vitality’s ZywOo and closely trailed by teammate MATYS.

The pressure-cooker final job sealed it: HeavyGod’s peak form shone brightest on the decisive Map 5, where he outmatched even ZywOo in a head-to-head battle.

What’s Next For Both G2 and Vitality?

We will see G2 shortly at FISSURE Playground 2, which starts September 12. Their opening match will be against the Chinese team Lynn Vision, and we will have to see if they can keep the fire they had here at BLAST.

Vitality seems to be having a small break until next month, when they will play in ESL Pro League Season 22, which starts on October 3. Vitality will have to come back stronger and show everyone why they were the best team in the world for the first half of the year.
