Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander, one of the most influential in-game leaders in Counter-Strike history, has officially retired from professional play and announced his transition into coaching. The move marks the end of a legendary era for one of CS’s greatest tactical minds – and the start of a new chapter that could reshape the coaching landscape in CS2.
The End of a Monumental Playing Career
Gla1ve’s name is synonymous with Astralis’ golden era. After joining the team in 2016, he led the Danish powerhouse to an unprecedented level of consistency and dominance. Under his leadership, Astralis captured four Major titles, an Intel Grand Slam, and 16 LAN trophies, establishing what many still consider the greatest dynasty the game has ever seen.
Individually, gla1ve also proved he wasn’t just a cerebral leader but a high-impact player. He earned a spot in the HLTV Top 20 in 2018 and secured an MVP medal at IEM Beijing 2019 after posting a remarkable 1.48 rating.
After parting ways with Astralis in 2023, gla1ve joined ENCE and added another trophy to his résumé by winning Elisa Masters Espoo 2024. His final LAN appearance came at Tipsport Conquest of Prague 2025, where ENCE finished second.
With his retirement, gla1ve becomes the third member of Astralis’ iconic core to step away from competing, following the earlier exits of dupreeh and Xyp9x.

According to gla1ve, the decision comes from “clarity” about what he wants to contribute to the game going forward. After being moved to the bench earlier this year, hebegan reassessing his long-term role in CS2. Rather than fade out, he chose to pivot.
He explained that years of in-game leadership taught him a wide arsenal of skills – tactical, structural, and interpersonal – and that he now believes he can deliver greater impact off the server than on it. His competitive fire still burns, just in a new form.
