Liquid has revealed that Torbjørn ‘mithR’ Nyborg will be resigning from his position as head coach. Jay ‘DeMars DeRover’ Li, who is currently serving as an analyst, will take over as the interim head coach while Liquid “looks into all coaching possibilities.”
Liquid Announcement
‘mithR’ became a part of Liquid in the middle of 2024 as the organization aimed to recover from the dissolution of a roster that included Casper ‘cadiaN’ Møller, Felipe ‘skullz’ Medeiros, and Wilton ‘zews’ Prado.
The Dane quickly teamed up with Justin ‘jks’ Savage and Roland ‘ultimate’ Tomkowiak, while Russel ‘Twistzz’ Van Dulken assumed the role of in-game leader.
Liquid accomplished little of significance under ‘mithR’s leadership, frequently failing to qualify for the playoffs in major events and never placing better than 5-6th. Their most remarkable achievements were in the ESL Pro League, where they finished 5-8th in both seasons 20 and 21, and at the Perfect World Shanghai Major, where they similarly ended up in 5-8th place.
It appears that mithR’s efforts to assist ‘Twistzz’ in becoming an in-game leader did not succeed, as the Canadian is anticipated to relinquish the role to ‘siuhy’ if ‘siuhy’ joins Liquid in the near future, as is expected.
