Several sources have verified to HLTV and Croissant Strike that G2 is in talks with fnatic to acquire Matúš ‘MATYS’ Šimko in order to finalize the team’s roster.
This decision follows a previous report indicating that G2 was considering the replacement of their current in-game leader, Janusz ‘Snax’ Pogorzelski, with ENCE’s rifler, Kacper ‘xKacpersky’ Gabara, who was initially viewed as the top candidate for the role in the roster. HLTV is now aware that G2 has ended discussions with ENCE.

Croissant Strike Report
The move of ‘MATYS’ to G2 would finalize a hectic off-season for the international team. G2 has already secured the talents of former HEROIC AWPer Álvaro ‘SunPayus’ García and coach Eetu ‘sAw’ Saha, having both signed before the BLAST.tv Austin Major.

Along with bringing in a new AWPer and a coach, G2 will be adapting to a new captain, as Nemanja ‘huNter-’ Kovač is set to lead the team after Snax’s exit from the active roster.
‘MATYS’ has displayed solid performance with fnatic, achieving a 1.12 rating over his year-and-a-half tenure. However, the Slovak rifler had limited opportunities, playing in just two ESL Pro League seasons and the Challengers Stage of the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024.
If this move becomes a reality, ‘MATYS’ will encounter a challenging start in his first appearance with G2, who are scheduled to compete again in the main stage of IEM Cologne in late July.
If the move happens, G2’s roster will be as follows:
- Nemanja ‘huNter-’ Kovač
- Mario ‘malbsMd’ Samayoa
- Nikita ‘HeavyGod’ Martynenko
- Álvaro ‘SunPayus’ García
- Matúš ‘MATYS’ Šimko
- Eetu ‘sAw’ Saha (coach)
