We spoke to G2âs Swani after G2âs 2-0 win against Natus Vincere, which will put them straight into the semi-finals of IEM Katowice. Hereâs what he had to say:
Sebastian “Horizzon” Lalic, BLIX.GG: You guys have been phenomenal recently. Has it been a change of plans or did it finally click?
Jan âSwaniâ Müller: “We started to click and we started to believe in each other and trust in the calls. We just do things as a team. If we do them together there’s no team that can stop us.”
BLIX: Was Abu Dhabi the realization that this team can work?
Swani: “In Abu Dhabi, we bonded together a lot more, due to the circumstances that happened to Rasmus (HooXi) and everyone just bought into it and we just keep doing our thing.”
BLIX: How’s m0NESY evolved in this system, has he changed as a player or is he just getting used to it?
Swani: “He’s talking a lot more, He’s communicating like he has to like an AWP player has to communicate. He’s the most important piece of the puzzle for us. He’s improved a lot, on some maps he wasn’t talking as much but now he’s talking good on most of the maps and it helps us tremendously.”
BLIX: I know you guys hired a sports psychologist, has he helped with that too?
Swani: “He helped us to handle pressure which we had a lot of issues with in the past, the RMR we’re 1-2 and had a lot of pressure. Even now you see the close games, we keep winning them even if we lose stupid rounds at 14-14 or something we stay in it, we are resilient, we win the low-buys and we’re in a lot better mental state now. “
BLIX: Finally, congratulations you guys are in the Spodek. Lots of people are saying you’re the favorite now, would you agree or is it too early
Swani: “Obviously we are a bit of the favorite because we’re on like a 16-map winning streak. So I guess it’s fair to call us the favorites. But we don’t treat it like (weâre) the favorites, we just go game by game, and we take everyone super seriously because it’s top teams. So we don’t feel like favorites in the Spodek Arena.
