It is safe to say that Wildcard surprised the Counter-Strike scene with their decision to bench their current CS2 roster.  The organization will try to rebuild its roster following an intense few months where we saw loads of international conflicts. The announcement was shared on social media, so let’s see what happened.

    A big Reset

Today we announce the following roster changes:

Stanislaw, Phzy, and JBa are transfer listed. Peeping will be placed on the bench. F1ku's contract expires at the end of November.

We are deeply grateful for their dedication and time.

People who’ve been following Wildcard in the last couple of months definitely saw this coming. Following the BLAST.tv Austin Major and the somewhat shaky performance at the Perfect World Shanghai Major in 2024, the team’s performance has not been the same.

Wildcard struggled to achieve much, which led to several roster changes and decisions that did not provide the results people wanted. Consequently, this led to the current decision to disband the roster.

Every member of Wildcard’s team is either benched, transfer-listed, or departing because of contract expiry.  Here was the team’s roster and what happened to each player:

    • Peter “stanislaw” Jarguz – Listed for a transfer
    • Love “phzy” Smidebrant – Listed for a transfer
    • Josh “jBa” Barutt – Listed for a transfer
    • Jaxon “Peeping” Cornwell – Benched
    • Maciej “F1KU” Miklas – Will depart

Since Peeping is the only player who was not listed for a transfer, it means that Wildcard could try building a new roster around the player. Whether this will happen is unknown, but we may see the player in the new team.

What happened at the Austin Major?

Wildcard was doing fairly okay, but something changed during the Austin Major. The team’s questionable decisions to bench phzy and stanislaw after that have caused a lot of issues because it seems like the management did not consult with the rest of the team.

While it is true that the management team eventually reinstated the two players to the roster, the damage had already been done. It affected the way people played and the team was never able to bounce back to where it was.

    The Future

CS2 fans can only hope that Wildcard will find the way to success because the team has proven it can do it. The organization will be starting from scratch, so everything is possible. Make sure to follow us for more information.,
