If you have been paying attention, you probably saw that the most recent CS2 update delivered interesting news. Following the changes, Ancient and Shoot received nighttime modes. The new changes are available in Casual and Deathmatch, so let’s learn everything about them.
Ancient and Shoot Got Nighttime
The recent Counter-Strike 2 update is a part of a broader rework of Ancient and Shoot, two of the more popular maps in the game. As mentioned, players can access them in Casual and Deathmatch. However, those who like Ancient will also have access to it while playing the Arms Race mode.
It’s worth knowing that Night is not something new to Counter-Strike. In fact, this has been around since CS 1.6, when players had access to many such maps. I still remember playing in the de_dustaztec, which was the night version of Aztec. In fact, CSGO also had something similar.
If you check the CS2 workshop, you will see that almost every map is in the nighttime version. A quick comparison between those and Valve’s original take reveals that the latter made the maps look better. The ambient lightning is more impressive, and the map never truly gets dark.
Now that the new update is out, it will greatly benefit those involved in creating CS2 maps. People will be able to add wetness and moss, and make everything look more detailed.
Aside from the visual change, there are also small map changes. If we take a look at Ancient, for example, we can see that A main can’t be defended safely from inside the temple anymore. What used to be a common spot for AWP players is no longer functional, meaning the latter have to expose themselves and take more risk.
Keep in mind that BLAST Bounty 2025 will not be affected by the most recent changes. We expect to see them in action in the next big CS2 tournament.
Other CS2 Patch Notes
Alongside the changes to the maps, the most recent CS2 update also delivered several other smaller changes. For example, Valve fixed the instances where certain weapons could be fired sooner after redeploying. Some of the deploy animations have also been fixed, such as those for the AWP, M4A4, M4A1-S.
