Just a couple of days after Valve released the Spring Forward Update, fans have access to the 7.39b patch. As expected, the new patch offers minor tweaks to some of the big changes that came along with the last big update. We at Blix.gg took the time to analyze everything, so here’s what you need to know.

General and Item Updates
The Dota 2 Patch 7.39 brought several big general and item changes, so we’re not surprised that 7.39b addressed some of them. Starting with the General changes, the new patch adds small terrain adjustments. For example, the Bottom T1 tower is moved to the south, and a tree has been removed to the south of the top Dire T1 tower.
In terms of item changes, there are a few more things you should know, and all of the changes are related to the newly added Neutral Items. Here are a few examples:
- Jidi Pollen Bag – The pollinate HP restore loss is now 30% instead of 20%
- Dezun Bloodrite – The abilities considered as attacks are not impacted by it. As for the blood invocation AoE bonus, it is down to 12% from 15%
Aside from these 2, Giant’s Maul, Magnifying Monocle, and Helm of the Undying also got small changes. As for the Enchantment, Crude is the only thing that’s a bit different. Following the changes, it offers +30/40% health restoration, and the INT reduction is now 5% instead of 8%.
Hero Updates
The Dota 2 Patch 7.39b includes several important hero updates. Most of them are minor tweaks, but we believe they will have an effect on the heroes’ popularity and effectiveness.
We recommend going through the patch notes, but before that, here is an overview of some of the heroes that were affected the most.
Dark Seer

Dark Seer established himself as one of the top-tier offlaners in the new meta. He has an impressive win rate, so it’s not that surprising that Valve decided to nerf him a little, but in the most recent Dota 2 patch.
Following the changes, Ion Shell now lasts for 20/22/24/26s instead of 21/24/27/30s, resulting in less damage overall. Aside from that, Wall of Replica’s cast range is down from 1300 to 1000. This change may not seem that big at first, but after testing DS in action, we can confirm that it is noticeable. It will be harder to land those deadly Vacuum + Wall combos than before.
Kez
Although Kez became one of the most popular heroes when he was first added to the game, this is no longer true. We rarely see him in action, so Valve decided to buff him once again in the 7.39b Dota 2 patch.
Starting with Falcon Rush, this ability’s duration is now 3.75/4.5/5.25/6s instead of 3/4/5/6s. Also, abilities that are united targeted attacks now allow Kez to rush to the target.
Talon Toss also got buffed because the Mana Cost is now 60/65/70/75 instead of 75 across all 4 levels.
Lastly, we have Shado Sai, and the ability will once again grant bonus stun and critical strike from marks generated by parrying an enemy hero. Also, the parry bonus critical strike is rescaled from 25/50/76/100% to 4% times the enemy level.
Nature’s Prophet
Nature’s Prophet became a little too strong following the 7.39 Dota 2 patch. That’s why we weren’t surprised that the hero received several nerfs in the 7.38b update
Starting with his two Facets, both got some changes. Soothing Saplings, for example, increases the tree enchant radius from 1200 to 900. Nature’s Profit, on the other hand, got buffed because it offers 2 gold per hero level instead of 1.5.
Lastly, we have Wraith of Nature’s nerf because the ability now does 90/130./170 base damage instead of 100/140/180.
Sand King

Sand King is one of the top offlaners in the current match, and after the most recent changes, he will continue to dominate.
Sand King’s Burrowstrike now costs 100/110/120/130 mana instead of 110/120/130/140, which will allow him to use it more frequently. Aside from that, Sand King’s talents also got some buffs as follows:
- Level 10 – Stinger Slow increased to +12% instead of +8%
- Level 15 – Burrowstrike Cast Range is now +200 instead of +150
- Level 15 – Sand Storm DPS is now +25 instead of +20
Templar Assassin
Templar Assassin was the most dominant mid-laner in the 7.38 Dota 2 meta, so fans were not surprised the hero received nerfs in 7.39. With that said, Meld was the only thing that changed, which raised a lot of questions because Refraction was the main thing that made TA so dangerous.
It seems like Valve decided to listen to its players because the 7.39b Dota 2 patch also nerfed her Refraction. Following the changes, the ability now costs 95 instead of 85 mana and provides 15/30/45/60 damage instead of 20/40/60/80.
After testing her in several matches, we think that she is definitely in a bad state right now. Sure, TA can still work in some instances, but the hero does not automatically win the lane anymore.
Tinker

The last hero that we want to share a few words about is Tinker. He only got one nerf in 7.39b but it is huge and it will definitely affect his win rate.
After the changes, Translocator (his Facet) will no longer blink him if he is rooted or leashed. This was an incredibly broken mechanic that helped him survive in many situations, but after the changes, he won’t be able to rely on it as much.
