As expected, Valve finally gave us access to the big update we’ve all been waiting for. Following the Staging Update we reported a few days ago, Spring Forward is here and comes with loads of options. We have new items, a new patch, loads of quality-of-life updates, and much more, so let’s dive in.

Spring Forward – Quality of Life Changes

One of the first new things you can see on the Spring Forward 2025 page is the change in quality of life. There are many intriguing things, so let’s group them to make them easier to understand.
Hero Focused
The new Dota 2 update comes with several hero-focused options, such as Team Items. This allows players to keep track of their teammates’ inventory so that they do not overlap by getting the same items.
Auto Delivery is another new feature that allows your courier to deliver purchased items automatically.
We will also have a Mark for Buy option, which will allow us to select which items we want to purchase as soon as we have enough gold.
The Spring Forward update also offers improved starting item display, buyback tooltip, pre-game clarity, item context menu, and a Dota Plus Guide. The latter is only available to people with an active subscription, so keep that in mind.
Communication and Clarity
The latest Dota 2 update will actually offer us new pings. They have new visual effects and sound, allowing us to communicate better with our teammates.
We will also have access to an Item Pickup Effect, which means it will display the item that a hero has recently picked up, such as the Aegis.
There will also be a minimal route display, as well as status labels that will indicate when a given hero is doomed, teleporting, channeling, and more.
Lastly, there is also improved voice chat quality. This was a much-needed change because a lot of people use the voice chat while playing.
Power and Control

Moving on to the next quality of life changes, they are related to the in-game settings. Valve decided to make things more convenient and easy to access.
You will have access to the New Settings UI and will have the ability to search settings. You can also find new options, set up in-game notifications, add different commands to the chat wheel, and more.
Ability Draft
Ability Draft is one of those modes that never had that many fans among Dota 2 players. With that said, the 2025 Dota 2 Spring Forward update definitely changed it by adding 3 new things:
- Hero Drafting – Aside from drafting abilities, you can now draft the base hero as well. The new mode will let you select heroes at any time during the draft.
- Facet Support – Your hero card will also show you the available Facets and will let you choose which one to use.
Alongside these two additions, the new Ability Draft also comes with a big clean-up.
Other Improvements

Alongside everything mentioned so far, the quality of life changes in the Dota 2 Spring Forward Update 2025 include a load of other options. We highly recommend checking the full update log to learn more about what’s new.
Spring 2025 Treasure – Heroes’ Hoard
Alongside the many quality-of-life changes, the latest Dota 2 update also offers us Heroes’ Hoard. This new chest will offer us 16 new hero items that include personal, immortal items, taunts, and loads of additional options. You can find a set for some of the following heroes:
- Anti-Mage
- Phantom Assassin
- Luna
- Spirit Breaker
- Lion
- Sand King
- Huskar
- Pudge
- Invoker
- Earthshaker
- Axe
- Necrophos
- Muerta
- Marci
- Snapfire
- Dawnbreaker
Gameplay Update 7.39

The addition of the 7.39 Dota 2 patch is among the most important changes in the Dota 2 Spring Forward Update. We recently made a Dota 2 patch wishlist, where we talked about some of the things we expect to see, and we are happy that some of our suggestions ended up in the newest update.
We will dive deep into the patch notes in a separate article, but there are several things you ned to know before that.. First, we have to mention that several heroes received tweaks, new facets, inmates, and changes to the Agh’s Scepter and Shards.
Valve also decided to make small but meaningful adjustments to the playable map (you can see an example on the update page).
Last but not least, we need to mention the new Neutral Items. We will have access to 8 new options, and some of the older ones that were not that popular are no longer in the game. Here is what you will find:
- Dormant Curio (Tier 1) – Increases the potency of your neutral artifact by 30%
- Kobold Cup (Tier 1) – 10 MS buff to all allies within 1000 radius for 6 seconds
- Sister’s Shroud (Tier 1) – Gaining 200% evasion when falling below 50% HP. Dodging an attack will increase the evasion bonus, and you can only reset this item if you kill someone or you die.
- Jidi Pollen Bag (Tier 3) – This item decreases your opponents’ HP regen and deals damage over time based on their max HP.
- Dezun Bloodrite (Tier 4) – Spells get a 15% larger AoE but will cost you HP to use them (35% of their mana cost).
- Giant’s Maul – (Tier 4) – This item empowers your next attack and makes it a critical hit. Moreover, your attack will decrease the enemy hero’s damage, MS, and cast speed.
- Outworld Staff (Tier 4) – The item offers self-exile, which will remove you from the world for 0.7s. It works like OD’s W.
- Divine Regalia (Tier 5) – This passive item has Exalted, which increases the outgoing damage by 20%. With that said, dying will turn off this neutral item, and you will lose the enchantment.
Closing Thoughts
Needless to say, this will be one of Dota 2’s biggest updates of the year. We have tons of quality of life updates, a new patch, new items, and more. We’ve covered some of the basics, but make sure to follow us for more information.
