Dota 2 Low Priority – What is it, How To Escape & More

Dota 2 can be a fun game when playing with friends or trying to reach your desired MMR. Like any other game, however, (especially MOBAs), Dota 2 has a lot of toxic players. These people either insult other players, sabotage their own team, feed, and do all kinds of other things.

Valve has been battling against these players for years, and one of the solutions it came up with is the Dota 2 low priority. Most players have ended up there once or twice while playing, but others have no idea about its existence. Therefore, it is time to learn more about the Dota 2 low priority.

What is the Dota 2 Low Priority

The Dota 2 low priority is a matchmaking penalty that Valve adds to your account. This happens when players have disruptive behavior and receive different reports in their previous games.

Once you receive this penalty, you will realize that the Dota 2 low priority Single Draft is the only mode you can play. We will talk about how to escape from this penalty in a bit, but keep in mind that the process can take a lot of time.

The number of low priority Dota 2 games you will receive depends on your behavior. Over the years, there have been many cases of people who got many more games than others.

You can get an overall idea of what could happen with your account by going to the Conduct Summary page. This is the place where you can see what has happened in your last 15 games in terms of behavior.

However, most people believe that Valve will send you to the low-priority queue as soon as you get a lot of reports in a short period of time. These reports can be related to griefing, feeding, abandoning games, and communication abuse.

What Happens When You Are in Low Priority

Before talking about the Dota 2 low priority removal, it’s worth mentioning the consequences of getting there. The first and most important restriction is that you will only be able to queue for Single Draft games. The mode is not a fan favorite because it limits your hero pool.

Alongside the Single Draft penalty, you won’t be able to complete any quests or achievements while playing. This may not be problematic for some players, but it means that they are “wasting” time.

Besides the long Dota 2 low priority queue time, you also won’t be able to earn any Battle Pass levels. The same is true for the compendium points or any other available seasonal rewards/currencies.

Keep in mind that a 5-game low priority penalty is the biggest “punishment” you can get. If players continue to be disruptive after that, Valve can add a matchmaking ban for a specific period of time.

While it is true that you can get into Dota 2 LP for abandoning games, this is not always the case. Valve has built an interesting threshold that basically gives a “free pass” to people who leave a game. They do it because some users have technical issues that cause them to leave.

Getting out of the Low Priority in Dota 2

People looking for the Dota 2 low priority reset button will be disappointed when they find out that the only way to “escape” is by winning your assigned Single Draft games. The penalty is designed in such a way that it requires you to play your games. If you decide to leave, you will receive even more low priority games.

The number of wins depends on the specific penalty. In some instances, you can get only one, but there are players who have to win as many as 5 different games. This may not sound that difficult, but people who had to go through it will tell you that it can take days.

Single Draft is a mode where you only have access to a small hero pool (usually one from each attribute). It goes without saying, but a lot of people here pick whatever they want, so you need to be ready to adjust your playstyle if you want to win. It’s also worth knowing that you will be playing alongside disruptive players as well, so don’t expect amazing cooperation and friendly behavior.

    Avoiding Dota 2 Low Priority

Now that you know what the low priority in Dota 2 is, you should do everything possible not to find yourself in it. As mentioned, the easiest way to get this penalty is if you receive a lot of reports, so your number 1 goal should be to avoid that.

One way to avoid getting reports is to try to stay positive and simply not say anything in voice chat if you don’t have something nice to say. Being abusive via chat or voice is one of the easiest ways to get in trouble. Believe us, we have been there.

Griefing is the second big thing that can get you in a lot of trouble. People often give up and start ruining the game by feeding, destroying items, throwing, and more. Doing this will almost always put you in the LP.

The same is true for abandoning (although there are exceptions, as we’ve mentioned earlier). Leaving more than 1 game will always result in low priority Dota 2 games. Therefore, people who have connection issues should try to fix them if they want to have a good experience.

Last but not least, abusing any bugs or abilities while playing is not a good idea. The same is true for any other form of cheating because this will inevitably result in reports and low priority.

    Closing Thoughts

All Dota 2 players make mistakes and can find themselves in the low priority. Once there, however, you realize that it is better to abide by the rules because it is very hard to get out. That’s why we at Blix.gg recommend being careful when playing so that you don’t need to waste time winning these annoying Single Draft matches.
