Dota 2 Patch 7.39 Soft Support Tier List
Soft supports are often underrated, but their role is vital for every team. We are still early in the 7.39 meta, and professional teams and players are still figuring out how they work. Consequently, you can find many different position 4 heroes.
After testing many different options and following the action in the professional scene, this is our Patch 7.39 soft support hero tier list:
- S+: Venomancer, Bane, Leshrac, Snapfire
- S: Enigma, Dazzle, Omniknight
- A: Marci, Enchantress, Spirit Breaker
- B: Zeus, Invoker
- C: Tusk
- F: Chen
Venomancer

It’s worth mentioning that Venomancer could also be an offlaner, but most people will use him as a position 4. To be fair, Veno was already a fairly popular hero before the 7.39 Dota 2 patch, so it’s no surprise he is one of the best heroes right now as well.
The newest Dota 2 update changed its Plague Carrier facet, buffed Plague Ward, and increased the hero’s Septic Shock. All of these buffs have a positive effect on him because Venomancer’s overall win rate sits at 51.24%, whereas his pick rate is at 9.09%.
Venomancer’s ability to push, be extremely annoying, and counter many of the hot cores right now makes him a great pick. The hero is easy to play and can be paired with a variety of offlaners. He is exceptionally strong with heroes who have high burst damage because, together, they can land easy kills.
Bane

Generally speaking, Bane is a solid position 5, but we have seen that many people use him as a soft support. After testing in many games, we can confirm that Bane is a solid position 4 and, if played right, can make a huge difference.
Interestingly, Bane did not receive that many changes in the 7.39 Dota 2 patch. In fact, the only new thing is Enfeeble’s cooldown reduction during levels 1-3. This does not seem like much, but it helps Bane be more efficient early on by not allowing the enemy’s carry to farm that easily. We had many instances where we destroyed the enemy’s safelane and ensured our team dominated throughout the match.
In terms of the stats, Bane’s win rate has increased by more than 2% since the arrival of the new patch. His pick rate is also slightly up from before, but he remains one of the less popular heroes. We strongly believe this will change because Bane feels solid.
Leshrac
Even though you can often find Leshrac in the mid-lane, our experience shows us that the hero is also a solid position 4. Old-school Dota 2 players are probably not surprised by that because there was a time when Leshrac was one of the go-to soft supports.
Leshrac was one of the “forgotten” heroes in the last patch because we’ve rarely seen him in action. However, after the 7.39 Dota 2 changes, he suddenly became very strong. Despite the nerfs, Leshrac fits well in the current meta, which is why his win rate is up by around 1%.
Leshrac remains one of the heroes who can push fast and one of the best overall nukers in the game. Indeed, he is not the best at surviving, but the current meta heroes allow him to be much more useful than before.
Snapfire

Snapfire is one of those Dota 2 heroes you don’t see that often in action. Although she was popular before, the hero was dead in the previous meta. She was not a popular pick in Pub and Pro games, but things are slowly changing.
If we check the patch notes for the 7.39 Dota 2 update, we will see that Snapfire’s Buckshot got buffed. Her level 20 talent also changed and now gives her 2 Firesnap Cookie Charges, which gives her much more utility.
These small updates placed the hero in a much better position because her win rate is up by almost 1%. Even though it remains below the 50% mark, it is slowly getting there, so we expect to reach it soon. As for the hero’s pick rate, Snapfire is becoming more popular in both Pro and Pub games.
Honorable Mentions
Several Dota 2 heroes could be considered as top-tier soft supports right now, and Enigma is among them. The hero also rose from the ashes and is a very common pick. However, we decided to put it in the S instead of the S+ tier because the hero is hard to master and may not work well in all situations.
Omniknight is also an interesting name that you will see much more of in the next couple of weeks. Sure, some people use him as an offlaner, but he can be an excellent position 4. Omni works well with aggressive heroes like Huskar, Mars, Axe, and more.
