The mid-lane is often regarded as one of the most complex yet fun roles in Dota 2. The heroes that play there are incredibly important in every meta, and it’s safe to say that teams often base their tactics around them. After the minor adjustments in the 7.39b Dota 2 patch, it is time to dive deep and see the best middlers right now.
The Dota 2 patch 7.39b mid-lane hero tier list you are about to see consists of all the top-tier picks for pub games. We at Blix.gg have been playing a lot since the arrival of the new patch, and compared various stats to provide you with the best results. So, without further ado, let’s go through all of the names you should know. Don’t forget to check our soft and hard support tier list, as well as the one for the offlane.
Dota 2 Patch 7.39b Mid Lane Hero Tier List
- S+: Necrophos, Outworld Destroyer, Batrider, Death Prophet
- S: Storm Spirit, Shadow Fiend. Lina, Sniper
- A: Ember Spirit, Sniper, Templar Assassin
- B: Void Spirit, Leshrac, Tinker
- C: Puck
Necrophos
Necrophos is among the heroes that you do not want to play against, especially when he’s in the mid-lane. Known as one of Dota 2’s most annoying heroes, he is a nightmare to lane against and can be extremely efficient in many situations.
Necrophos did not get that many changes after the big 7.39 Dota 2 update. With that said, his Innate and Death Pulse got slightly buffed, whereas his Level 10 talent that gave him +125 Reaper’s Scythe Cast Range has been replaced with -2.5s Ghost Shroud Cooldown.
Following these changes, Necro “cemented” himself as one of the top picks for the mid-lane and has around a 52.40% win rate. Even though you can also see him in the offlane and even the safe lane, overall, he is a solid pick across the board.
Outworld Destroyer
OD remains a solid pick, so he is one of the names on our Dota 2 Patch 7.39b mid-lane hero tier list. An interesting fact about OD is that the hero did not receive any buffs or nerfs in 7.39. Fans expected to see something following his solid results before that, but this wasn’t the case.
In 7.39b, however, OD’s talent got nerfed, making him a bit less powerful. Nevertheless, the hero remains one of the best in the game, especially in situations where you want to win your lane.
Outworld Destroyer is a hero that wins against almost anything in a 1v1 format. Moreover, he is one of those names that scales incredibly well in the late game. His ultimate is usually more than enough to land a quick kill on anyone, and his right-click damage is on another level.
At the time of writing, OD’s win rate is 51.90%, slightly higher than last week’s.
Batrider

This will probably be the most controversial pick on our Dota 2 patch 7.39b mid-lane hero tier list, but trust us, Batrider is insane right now. The hero does not receive the love it deserves, especially in pubs. His current win rate is 43%, which is abysmal, but it is slowly improving, and we expect him to become a top-tier pick.
The reason why Batrider is so good right now is because of the changes following the Dota 2 7.39 patch. He suddenly became one of the strongest 1v1 heroes in Dota 2 and easily destroyed everyone on the lane. The changes increased his overall damage output tremendously, allowing him to be a lot more dangerous throughout the match.
This is definitely one of the “sleeper” picks in PUBs right now, so we expect to see a lot more from him in the future. Batrider is very dangerous, but some players seem to avoid him because he is a utility mid, and they believe his damage output is not that high. Needless to say, this is not the case.
Death Prophet
Death Prophet is one of those Dota 2 midders that can be extremely strong if the meta allows it. Although she may not seem on the same level as some of the names here, overall, DP is an excellent pick to get right now.
The Spring Forward Dota 2 update made Death Prophet a lot more efficient than before. Her Crypt Swarm now does more damage than before, and Silence’s projectile speed was increased from 1200 to 1400. Her level 15 talent also got buffed, making the hero a lot stronger.
After using her in several games, we can confirm that Death Prophet is a very solid choice for the mid-lane. Yes, she has a hard time against specific heroes, but the buffs make her way stronger. Moreover, Death Prophet remains one of the best Dota 2 mid-lane heroes in the game for team fights and pushing.
If we analyse her stats, we can see that the hero’s win rate is at 50.26%
Honorable Mentions
Even though the mid-lane heroes mentioned so far are on another level, they are not the only options that deserve more attention. Sniper is another interesting hero that is a solid pick in the current meta and can do very well in the mid-lane. Even though many people use him as a support, when picked correctly, he can be very hard to overcome, especially if he gets a good start.
The same is true for Storm Spirit. While he is not the best hero right now, a snowballed SS is a nightmare to play against, regardless of what hero you’re using. The same can be said about Templar Assassin, even though the most recent nerfs made the hero feel weaker than before.
