The Dota 2 Patch 7.39d arrived just a few days ago and finally delivered some minor meta changes. Even though the update was not that big, it affected the best heroes in each role. That’s why it is time to take a look at some of the patch 7.39d broken heroes and see which options to focus on for each position.

Best Carres in 7.39d to Gain MMR With

We’d like to start with one of the most popular roles in Dota 2 – carries. The current patch gave us some interesting buffs and nerfs to several popular heroes, so here is what you should know.

    Wraith King

Although Wraith King received a minor nerf (Reincarnation’s slow is now 4s instead of 5s), he remains one of the best carries to gain MMR with in patch 7.39d. The hero’s current win rate is well above 54% and he will most likely remain in this position.

It’s safe to say that Wraith King has been one of the most dominating heroes in the game in 2025. Despite the changes, he has always been a solid pick because of his fast farming speed and overall effectiveness. The hero does a lot of damage, he is easy to play, and he can work in any setup.

To be fair, we expected Valve to nerf Wraith King more than it did. It seems like we will keep seeing him in PUBs, as well as in pro games.

    Lifestealer

Since Lifestealer did not get any changes in the Dota 2 patch 7.39d, he remains a solid pick in the current meta. Like Wraith King, he has been a top-tier carry choice for some time now. Many people (us included) expected LS to receive at least a few nerfs, but this was not the case.

A few days after the new patch arrived, Lifestealer remains a solid carry with a 52.28% win rate. He works well in many lineups, but can be very annoying to deal with once he is in the lead. These two things make him an excellent choice for PUB games if you want to gain MMR.

    Juggernaut

The last pick that we’d like to include here is Juggernaut. Although he may not be as glamorous as he was a few years ago, Juggernaut remains a solid choice for carrying players. He is easy to master, works well with all kinds of combos, and is a great overall hero to have.

Currently, Jugg’s win rate is 52.62%, and it seems like it will remain that way. The 7.39d patch did not nerf or buff him, so he is in a good state.

Best Mid-Lane Heroes in 7.39d to Gain MMR With

The current state of the mid lane in Dota 2 is exciting, to say the least. Professional and PUB players seem to focus on different kinds of heroes, but you can find some similarities.

    Leshrac

Leshrac is probably one of the most underrated picks in PUB Dota 2, especially among the lower-MMR brackets. He is one of the few midders that can easily dominate the lane and snowball out of control.

The disco pony did not receive any changes in the 7.39d Dota 2 update, which means he remains a solid pick. Currently, his win rate is slightly above 51%.

    Necrophos

Necro is definitely one of the heroes who are hot PUB picks. We rarely get to see him in professional play, but no one can deny he’s been a pub stomper. This explains why he remains a top-notch pick for the mid-lane and has a win rate of 52.40%.

Unlike Leshrac, however, Necrophos received two changes in the most recent patch. The HP regen he gets from Sadist is now slightly higher than before, whereas Ghost Shroud’s radius is down from 750 to 700. These changes make Necro stronger in the early game and slightly less effective later on, but he is still a solid choice.

    Outworld Devourer

OD may not be the go-to pick in pro matches, but he is a force to be reckoned with in PUBs. His current win rate is at 51.49% and he remains one of the best midders in Dota 2. Like Leshrac, he did not receive any changes in the most recent patch, so we expecte him to remain a solid choice.

We were going to include Queen of Pain on the list, but the hero can also be an offlaner, carry, or even support. Therefore, we’ve decided to “bet” on OD instead.

Best Offlane Heroes in 7.39d to Gain MMR With

Offlaners have always been very important in every meta, and one following 7.39d is no exception. There are several interesting heroes we’d like to share with you here, some of which have been in the lead for a while.

    Legion Commander

    via Dota 2.com

LC remains one of the most popular offlane heroes in Dota 2. She is a classic pick in PUB

games, and since the hero did not get any nerfs, she will remain a popular pick. LC’s win rate is 52.76% at the time of writing, and she continues to be a top-tier choice for many people.

    Abaddon

    via Dota 2.com

Abaddon is a highly diverse Dota 2 hero that you can find as an offlane, support, or carry. From our observation, he is mostly used as an offlaner, so we’ve decided to include him on this list.

Unlike LC, Abaddon received a minor change in the 7.39d Dota 2 patch. His level 10 talent now provides +10 instead of +12 HP regen, making it slightly less effective. Despite the nerf, Abaddon remains a solid choice with a win rate of over 53%.

    Dawnbreaker

    via Dota2.com

Lastly, we have Downbreaker, a hero whose success rate is sitting at 52.77%. She is a solid pick in PUB games and can be very hard to deal with she is in the lead.

Like Abaddon, the 7.39d Dota 2 patch changed some things about the hero. For starets, her Facet called Solar Charged now reduces Luminosity’s cooldown from 1s to 0.8s. Also, her level 15 talent decreases Solar Guardian’s cooldown by 15s instead of 20s.

Despite these nerfs, Dawnbreaker remains a top-tier offlane hero who can gain MMR within the current meta.

Best Support Heroes in 7.39d to Gain MMR With

Lastly, we will focus on the top-tier support picks you can get to gain MMR within 7.39d. We can add a handful of heroes here, but the three options below seem the best for PUB games.

    Witch Doctor

WD did not receive any nerfs or buffs in the 7.39d Dota 2 patch. Nevertheless, the hero remains an excellent option for players looking to get strong support that will allow them to win their games.

Currently, Witch Doctor’s win rate is at 53.43%, making him one of the most successful Dota 2 heroes. He is definitely one of the picks you want on your team, especially if you combine him with Wraith King, Lifestealer, and so on.

    Silencer

    via Dota2.com

Silencer slowly but steadily became a top-tier pick in the current Dota 2 meta. After patch 7.39d arrived, Silence received one small change – his base STR got nerfed and is now 18 instead of 19. Even though this makes him slightly less powerful early on, the hero remains a solid choice. His win rate is 52.59% and we expect him to remain a solid pick.

    Lich

    via Dota2.com

At number 3 we have one of the classic position 5 heroes you can get – Lich. Like WD, this hero did not receive any buffs or nerfs in the current meta. This puts him in a good position because his current win rate is 52.82% and he is a great pick to have.

One of the reasons why Lich is a solid option to gain MMR with is his ultimate. He also works exceptionally well with aggressive carries like Ursa, Lifestealer, Juggernaut, and more.

    Closing Thoughts

We can safely say that the Dota 2 Patch 7.39d did not deliver any significant meta changes. Yes, some heroes are not as good as before, but the meta remains more or less the same as it was.

The International 2025 begins in exactly a month from now, and by the looks of it, we won’t have a new patch until then. Unless Valve changes its decision, we will see all of the top-tier picks throught 2025.
