NAVI, BOOM Esports and Team Namesis Got Eliminated
We’d like to start with sad news about Southeast Asian Dota 2 because their two representatives are out of TI 14. Fans were secretly hoping for them to survive the bloodbath but this was not the case.
Team Nemesis did not win a single match and lost all 4 clashes. BOOM Esports, on the other hand, achieved one victory after defeating their SEA counterparts but this was not enough. It had to go up against Wildcard in a final match but the team failed to win.
The last squad that joined these two is Natus Vincere. Despite the promising start, the team lost 4 matches in total, including the decider versus Nigma Galaxy. The young team did not have the experience and determination to secure the win.
The International 2025 Playoff & Elimination Round Attendees
Aside from the teams that were sent home, we also learnt the names of the teams that advanced to the next stage.
Starting with the three that made it to the playoffs, we have the following:
- Xtreme Gaming
- BetBoom Team
- Team Tidebound
XG ended the Group Stage without losing a single map, whereas the other two lost one match each. All of them impressed us with their results, so we will have to wait and see if they will live up to the expectations.
As for the Elimination Round, we will see these teams:
- Team Falcons
- PARIVISION
- Aurora Gaming
- HEROIC
- Team Liquid
- Nigma Galaxy
- Team Spirit
- Tundra Esports
- Wildcard
- Yakutou Brothers
To be honest, we did not expect to see Team Spirit and Team Liquid here. Both were among the big favorites to win this competition, so fans expected them to perform better than the rest.
Instead of doing that, however, Liquid lost 2 matches, whereas Team Spirit lost 3 clashes. This puts the two powerhouses in a difficult position because they need to step up their game if they want to win.
Elimination Phase – HEROIC Advances, Yakutou Brothers Are Out
We only got the chance to watch one match from the Elimination Phase, and it was between the Yakutou Brothers and HEROIC. We expected to see an intense game, and we got it as HEROIC won the first map.
The South American powerhouse wanted to eliminate their Chinese counterparts, so the team picked Meepo for game 2. This definitely surprised Yakutou because the team had no way to answer.
Yuma demolished his opponents and carried HEROIC to their most important victory yet.
Conclusion
Only five teams will make it to The International 2025 proper, and we will have to wait and see who makes the cut. Once these matches are over, TI 2025 will resume on September 11, and we will see the Upper Bracket Quarterfinal.
