Even though all Dota 2 regions are interesting, there’s no denying Western Europe is in a league of its own. Gone are the times when WEU was on the same level as the rest. If we look at the results from the past couple of weeks, we can clearly see that Western Europe is dominating. But how will this transition into The International 2025? Well, let’s dive in and see.

Western Europe and The International
If we analyse The International’s history, we can see that Western Europe has always been one of the best. In fact, Alliance became the first team from the region to lift the Aegis in 2013. There was a brief pause in the region’s dominance until 2017, but since then, WEU has won 5 out of 7 TIs.
Western Europe usually has way more representatives than the rest, especially in the last couple of years. The region’s last success came in 2024 when Team Liquid defeated Gaimin Gladiators in Copenhagen.
Western European Teams at The International 2025
Considering WEU’s dominance, it’s no surprise the region has more teams than the rest. Unless something drastic happens, The International 2025 will give us access to the following names from the region:
- Team Liquid
- Tundra Esports
- Gaimin Gladiators
- Natus Vincere
- Nigma Galaxy
The first three got here after an invitation (more about it in a bit), whereas the rest had to earn their place via the Open Qualifiers. An interesting fact is that Western Europe was the only region to have two slots in these qualifiers.
A lot of people expected Team Secret and OG to end up at TI 2025, but this didn’t happen. Nigma Galaxy and NAVI Junior were on another level as they ripped through their competitors. This allowed them to secure the two slots and compete in Dota 2’s most important tournament of the year.
Can Western Europe Win The International 2025? – Overview of Each Team
Yes, Western Europe can definitely win The International 2025 because it has some of the best teams in the world.
Starting with Team Liquid, this is probably the squad with the most consistent results in Dota 2. Liquid are always among the favorites when playing, so it’s no surprise they won two big competitions in 2025. Team Liquid finished first at PGL Wallachia Season 3 and 4, so the team will look strong in the upcoming event.
In terms of Tundra Esports, 2025 has been one of the best years for the organization yet. Ever since the roster changes, Tundra’s results have been impressive. The team won the FISSURE PLAYGROUND 1, BLAST Slam II, PGL Wallachia Season 3, and BLAST Slam 4. Even though the team changed its carry and added Remco “Crystallis” Arets, it remains one of the contenders for TI’s trophy.
Gaimin Gladiators may not be in the form they were a few years ago, but they remain a strong opponent. 2025 hasn’t been the best for GG because the team has not won a single event so far. Even though it also has no TI trophies, GG got 2nd place two years in a row. Therefore, the team is definitely a solid option for winning TI 2025.
Natus Vincere Junior and Nigma Galaxy are not as strong as the first three options on your list. While it may be hard for them to win the event, we believe they can definitely upset some of the best. NGX is in a better position because the team has some of the best individual players in the world. Fans were hoping to see Miracle- back in action, but it seems like this won’t be the case.
The International 2025 Predictions for Western Europe
Considering the teams’ caliber and results, we expect to have at least one team among the best four. In fact, we strongly believe that a Western European Dota 2 team will be in the Grand Final. We may even see a fully WEU Grand Final.
While Western Europe remains a dominant force in Dota 2, it should be noted that the region is not as strong as it was last year. Eastern Europe has been on the rise recently, and teams like PARIVISION and Team Spirit can definitely defeat their WEU counterparts. Consequently, we expect to see an epic clash between some of the best teams in the world.
Conclusion
As The International approaches, Western Europe once again stands in the center of competitive Dota 2. Due to OG’s back-to-back titles and Team Liquid’s impressive runs, no one can deny that the region will do everything possible to win yet another big event.
That said, the debates about roster shifts and the EEU crossovers mean that it won’t be so easy. Fans expect the WEU teams to dominate, but the gap between them and the rest is not as big as before. Therefore, we expect to see an epic battle.
