As mentioned, the event will feature some of the world’s best Dota 2 teams. They will compete for a share of the $3M prize pool, but that’s not all. Those with Esports World Cup 2025 tickets and viewers online who choose the event’s MVP will grant the latter an additional $10K prize pool.
In addition to the $3M reward, teams competing here will be able to participate in the Club Championship. This is one of the most impressive Esports events ever because it will feature a prize pool of $27M.
Esports World Cup 2025 Dota 2 – Format
The Esports World Cup 2025 will include 16 Dota 2 teams from across the globe. The event itself will have a Group Stage (4 groups of 4 teams), where the teams will play in a round-robin format.. Once the matches are completed, the best team from each group will go to the Playoffs. As for the rest, they will have to play in the “Gauntlet Bracket”.
The battle there will be fierce because all 12 teams will face off. After the matches are over, the best 4 teams will advance to the playoffs, whereas the rest will no longer be part of the tournament.
As for the playoffs, there will be a single-elimination bracket where teams will play in a Bo3 format.
Esports World Cup Dota 2 Teams and The Qualifiers
Most of the 16 teams we will see at the Dota 2 event received a direct invitation. Starting with the Gaimin Gladiators, the current champions, they will get the chance to play at the EWC Dota 2 event this year.
GG and Xtreme Gaming also received invitations. This happened just a few days after the Chinese Powerhouse won the Asian Champions League 2025 by defeating some of the best in China to win the Asian Champions League 2025.
Alongside these two, we will also see the top 8 teams from the EPT Tour Ranking. We will learn their names later this week because fans are waiting to see who’s going to win DreamLeague Season 26.
As for the rest, they will need to compete in the different qualifiers. EWC 2025 will feature Online Qualifiers (held between June 1-3), Open Qualifiers (June 3-4), and Closed Qualifiers. Here’s the schedule for each region:
- WEU & North America – June 5-7
- MESWA & SEA – June 8-10
- EEU & SA – June 11-13
