The Esports World Cup 2025 will be Dota 2’s most important tournament in terms of prize pool. It will bring together all of the big names in the world, many of whom got a direct invitation. With that said, we also had the chance to follow the EWC 2025 Qualifiers, so here’s everything that happened in each region.
Contents
North America
Starting with North America, the region had the following teams:
- Wildcard
- 9z Team
- Yoru RyodaN
- Shopify Rebellion
Considering these teams, it’s no surprise that Shopify Rebellion did not have any problems. The team was on another level and defeated everyone to secure the only NA slot in these qualifiers. Even more impressive was that SR did not lose a single map in all of its three matches.
Western Europe
The WEU Esports World Cup 2025 qualifiers were much more interesting than those in North America. For starters, they had three extra teams, and the format itself also featured a lower bracket. This is probably not surprising because WEU is the strongest Dota 2 region.
Speaking of teams, this region gave us access to the following:
- 1w Team
- Passion UA
- Zero Tenacity
- NAVI Junior
- AVULUS
- MOUZ
- OG
It’s safe to say that almost all Dota 2 teams had equal chances of winning the qualifiers and securing an EWC2025 slot. In the end, however, NAVI Junior was above the rest and will be the team that will advance to the big event.
The squad definitely had issues because it lost to MOUZ in the Upper Bracket. This meant the team had to go against Zero Tenacity, 1w Team and MOUZ again before reaching the Grand Final. Speaking of the devil, the AVULUS vs NAVI Junior clash was amazing to watch, and the Ukrainian organization deserved to win.
MESWA
Even though MESWA only featured four Dota 2 teams, it was one of the most interesting regions to follow. It also had a lower bracket, and three out of those four teams could potentially secure the slot. On the topic of teams, here are the names we saw in action:
- Virtus.Pro
- Nigma Galaxy
- Sifr00
- Team Secret
While most people probably expected Nigma Galaxy to win, Virtus.Pro was the one to get the invitation. The team defeated NGX two times and ultimately deserved to attend the Esports World Cup 2025 later this year.
Southeast Asia
The qualifiers in Southeast Asia featured a total of 8 teams:
- Ivory
- Castawake Esports
- Tangon Galacticos
- BOOM Esports
- Execration
- InterActive Philippines
- KUKUYS
- Tech Free Gaming
Just looking at the names revealed that two teams here were on another level – Execration and BOOM Esports. The two had good results prior to these qualifiers, so it wasn’t surprising they met in the final.
While most people expected BOOM to be the one to get the slot, the team failed to defeat Execration, at least the second time. BOOM dealt with its opponents in the UB final, but lost the Grand Final.
China
You may have forgotten, but China’s EWC 2025 qualifiers were a lot different than the rest. Instead of featuring a similar layout, we had the chance to watch the Asian Championship League 2025. We already have a full overview of the event, so make sure to check it.
To make a long story short, Xtreme Gaming defeated the best teams in China and will be the region’s last representative from this part of the world.
What About EEU and South America?
EEU and South America have not determined which teams will attend the upcoming tournament. Eastern Europe is exciting to follow because there are a handful of squads that could name it, including NAVI. We’ll monitor the qualifiers and update the information when ready.
